Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

In this position the Senior Analyst/Associate will lead and support senior bankers in origination, syndication and execution of investment grade debt transactions for the Financial Institutions Group. Will also work closely with other product groups within fixed income and investment banking.

What will you do? 

  • Develop close working relationships with syndicate, sales, Corporate Banking and Investment Banking. Coordinate in providing information for internal and external use
  • Assist senior officers in the preparation of client market updates and pitch materials. Provide coverage support for senior officers of the desk
  • Manage, compile and synthesize investment grade bond issuance data into client friendly content
  • Assist senior officers during new issue executions with internal processes / approvals and post-mortem materials to leverage and market for the client base
  • Prepare and distribute indicative pricing information for clients
  • Liaise with traders to obtain secondary market themes and assist with special ad-hoc projects and initiatives as assigned
  • Manage and direct desk first year analysts & interns
  • Selectively take a leading role in direct client requests and projects
  • Interpret data on price, yield, stability, future investment-risk trends, economic influences, and other factors affecting corporate fixed income securities
  • Interpret and manipulate data sets using Bloomberg, Excel and PowerPoints to illustrate technical reports and industry / economic developments in a visual manner
  • Collaborate on projects with other professionals, such as lawyers, accountants, etc.

What do you need to succeed?

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience within capital markets, ideally within investment grade debt
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Math or related field required
  • Advanced MS Excel (vlookup, pivot tables, Bloomberg formulas), PowerPoint (pitchbooks and case studies) and Word skills (deal documentation) are a must
  • Bloomberg experience is important for bond valuation and comparable peer analysis
  • Knowledge of general capital markets as well as interest in investment grade / FIG specific markets
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills - able to analyze numbers very well
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities including working for multiple people
  • Overall positive attitude with willingness to perform beyond what is being asked
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong abilities in preparing thoughtful presentations
  • Series 7, 63, 79, SIE certified (helpful, but not required)

  • Take on increasing responsibility for the creation of client value-add materials, ensuring work-product from other teams / junior resources is relevant and client specific, as well as, error free
  • Continue to independently originate value-added ideas for our clients and proactively create efficiencies within the team processes
  • Proactively identify operational risks / control deficiencies in the business
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $105,000 - $185,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
