The Role:

The Business Intelligence Analytics Engineer is to design, develop and deliver strategic data-centric applications leveraging the firm’s BI technology stack: Power BI, MicroStrategy, Qlik and Tableau. These solutions will be architected in alignment with the underlying S&P Global Ratings Technology engineering standards and reference architecture

The Team:

The Ratings Technology Business Intelligence Platforms team is responsible for the development, platform support, and expert services for the Ratings Business Intelligence Ecosystem: Power BI, MicroStrategy, QLIK, and Tableau supporting 3k+ users globally. The team leverages data to provide actionable insights to solve business needs for the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide hands on keyboard engineering excellence for all stages for the software development /maintenance for the Business Intelligence application project portfolio. This includes oversight for the design, specification, ongoing maintenance and roadmap of this project portfolio:
• Development of operational reports and immersive data visualizations and dashboards.
• Data analysis of BI solutions. Diagnosing issues.
• Report/data structure optimization and integration
• Automation, deployment, scheduling & distribution of reports
• BI platform support & administration
• Auditing & value realization (usage metrics)
• Collaborating with geographically dispersed resources and customers
• Partner with enterprise architects to define and ensure proposed Business Intelligence solutions adhere to enterprise reference architecture. 
• Design robust data centric Business Intelligence solutions that consider technology from a development, operations, business, and vendor management perspective.
• Actively leads, participates and represents Business Intelligence Services team in meetings and facilitates cross-functional team collaboration.
• Create and deliver project communications and presentations to relevant stakeholders
• Aligns application systems design with the business voice of the customer and articulates trade-offs and alternative options.
• Deliver the optimal mix of approach, process, and technology that best accomplish the goals of an application/project while adhering to enterprise reference architecture.
• Provide project governance via project estimation, financial analysis, risk, change management, and implementation planning for a portfolio of Business Intelligence initiatives.
• Accountable for the design, build, test and deployment of full lifecycle Reporting and Analytic solutions.
• Champion efforts to ensure appropriate development best practices and assist with strategy and roadmap development.
• With our agile methodologies, work on features and stories, meet business expectations, influence outcomes and maintain stated timelines.
• Partner with business teams and external third-party vendors to execute solutions.

Skills:

• Demonstrable hands-on experience with Power BI data engineering and data visualization. Experience with MicroStrategy, QlikSense or Tableau and/or Power BI) Experience with other BI Platforms is a plus
• 5+ years of experience in traditional data engineering interfacing with OLTP and OLAP data stores for BI and Advanced Analytics development.
• 2+ years of experience in Big Data Engineering (ELT) interfacing with Schema on Read, NoSQL, Datalake/Object Store systems for BI and Advanced Analytics development.
• Demonstrated experience in SQL scripting (Oracle, Databricks).
• Understanding of business intelligence, data warehousing, data modeling, architectures, and terminology.
• Proven ability to develop successful relationships with external and internal partners.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem solving, multi-tasking, troubleshooting skills with a high degree of flexibility.
• Proven experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) / Agile development to plan and organize work activities for team execution.
• Proven analytical skills with the ability to understand key business processes and related issues.
• Demonstrated self-leadership with the ability to work independently and manage conflict.
• Proven learning agility as data technologies and capabilities evolve rapidly.
• Preferred experience with Big Data technologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields
• Ability to collaborate with business and technology teams to create practical, robust and scalable architectures and solutions meeting the business and technology goals/strategy of the organization
