Position Description

The Project Manager oversees and manages projects, and is responsible for planning, monitoring projects. The PM is responsible for co-ordination and completion of the projects and will perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring, and summarizing progress of the projects, setting, and following budgets, making HR decisions, and other project management-related tasks. The PM will be based in West Africa with travel to various remote training sites throughout the region. 

Location: Ghana, West Africa

Position Requirements

  • Two years of directly related experience managing projects of similar scale and complexity involving curriculum development, training, and equipment procurement in an austere environment valued at $1,000,000 per year minimum.
  • Management experience shall be defined as serving as the highest-ranking company official deployed in-country and responsible for a given project. Such examples may include Project Manager or Country Manager.
  • Native English speaker or DLPT 3/3 (or ILR equivalent).
  • The PM shall also demonstrate at least 1+ years direct experience conducting work professionally in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as highlight experiences operating in areas with limited life cycle support and under hardship conditions.
  • Candidate should have curriculum development experience.
  • Candidate must have the ability to analyze complex financial data and extract and define relevant information.
  • Candidate must have excellent supervisory, organizational, and training skills, skill in project development and execution, skill in coordinating activities, evaluating data, and establishing priorities.
  • Excellent communication in both written and verbal English is necessary, and must be proficient in Word, MS Office suite of programs.
  • Candidate must be able to analyze problems and make well-reasoned, sound decisions.
  • Candidate must be highly capable of interacting confidently with senior management and customers.
  • Candidate should have management experience with and a demonstrated history of managing direct reports within a large organization. o Previous work locations as required above include: Sub-Saharan African countries include: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cabo Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Democratic Republic), Cote d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, , Zambia, Zimbabwe. Other Post-conflict countries include Afghanistan, Bosnia, Colombia, Egypt, Haiti, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Yemen.
