Job Description

  • To receive, identify, register and prepare samples for analysis, storage and disposal as prescribed in the sample preparation methods and handling of test items procedures,
  • to comply with the quality, safety, health and environmental awareness programs including the SGS code of integrity and professional conduct.
  • To receive, clearly identify and record samples in the Trade or Geochem Samples Received and Dispatch Log book.
  • To understand and follow the sample preparation methods and equipment operation manuals for drying, crushing, splitting, pulverising and packaging.
  • To participate in all safety, health and environmental awareness programs.
  • To carry out instructions from the line managers to meet sample preparation deadlines and escalate any problems to the line manager.
  • To check that all tools and documentation for sample preparation are available before starting to process the samples.
  • To prepare samples according to documented sample preparation method to meet internal business, quality assurance and quality control arrangements.
  • To adhere to safety, health, environmental and good housekeeping practices and policies of the laboratory.
  • To participate in the shift handover and monthly performance review meetings
  • To update all the records and registers at the completion of sample preparation and ensuring that they are properly maintained.
  • To ensure timely transfer of prepared samples to the pulp storage library.
  • To execute any other tasks as required by the line manager. 

Qualifications

  • Speaking fluently, reading and writing French
  • Able to read and write in English an advantage
  • Graduated in chemistry or related discipline
  • Experience in Laboratory Practices Mine Product Analysis
