Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $175,000-$300,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The University of California, San Diego (UCSD), Department of Pediatrics (http://www-pediatrics.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking to recruit an innovative academic physician to serve as the Chief of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego (RCHSD), a top ten US News & World Report ranked Children’s Hospital.

The clinical practice provides consultative, evidenced-based, trauma-informed, culturally aware, and confidential care for youth aged 10-26 years in San Diego County. Clinic services include eating and nutritional disorder management, mental health assessment with medication management, comprehensive contraceptive services including placement of long-acting reversible contraceptives, medical management of menstrual and gynecologic disorders, and STI screening and treatment. The division is also responsible for outpatient services for the Center for Gender-Affirming Care as well as the inpatient Medical Behavioral Unit (eating disorders medical stabilization unit).

The Division Chief will be responsible for providing clinical services to a highly diverse patient population in San Diego County and delivering medical/adolescent teaching and health education to a wide variety of trainees. The incumbent will develop and conduct new collaborative research programs across disciplines at UCSD and RCHSD. The successful candidate will be an advocate across multiple domains and be committed to evidence-based science across programs, practice, and policy.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent, DO, or MD/PhD, in health-related fields. Candidates must also have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Preferred qualifications Candidates with a substantial background, expertise, and/or funded research in General Pediatrics or Adolescent Medicine are preferred.
