About the role

A Portfolio Solution Manager (PSM) Role exists within the @one Alliance Solutions Team, to support Anglian Water with engineering solution generation for the @one Alliances 5-year 1.8bn AMP 7 programme.

The AMP7 solutions process adopts a collaborative approach with Anglian Waters Asset Delivery and Planning (ADP) team, to generate and assess viable solution options, and to identify a single preferred option for the @one alliance to then deliver.

The PSM role is equivalent to a Technical Manager / Design Lead role. The PSM is primarily responsible for:

  • Collaborating with Anglian Water to generate solutions that achieve Anglian Waters objectives and the @one alliances objectives
  • Managing the @one alliances solution stage and working closely with the relevant Project Managers, Technical Managers and designers within each portfolio.

Providing engineering competency of either water, or water recycling, infrastructure and non-infrastructure

What you'll be doing

  • Working with ADP and the Lead PSM, identify and plan what support the @one Alliance needs to provide to a given project, including strategy, output, cost, programme and quality.
  • Understand individual project objectives and if unclear, challenge for clarity.
  • Lead site investigations and ensure correct stakeholders are involved.
  • Undertake analysis, investigation and data acquisition, for generating viable solution options, including gap and risk analysis of the data.
  • Working with the Lead PSM, identify and manage the appropriate and timely input of @one delivery teams for solution generation and selection.
  • Drive the development of solution options, ensuring rigorous application of the process, and appropriate and timely challenge.
  • In conjunction with the Design Manager, or Technical Manager, agree the required level of detail for solution development and for producing the Basis of Design, considering opportunity and risk.
  • Lead and co-ordinate the @one delivery team resources, to achieve the required outputs in a timely manner.
  • Working collaboratively with the Design Manager/Technical Manager, produce a Basis of Design and Plan for Stage 2, and obtain acceptance of the solution by the @one delivery team.
  • Develop a project plan and monitor progress, and report any issues to the Lead PSM.
  • Agree a ceiling budget with ADP for @one alliances inputs, and monitor actual inputs and progress
  • Represent @one at cell/portfolio level meetings with Anglian Water stakeholders
  • Assist with monthly performance data on programme area

Who we're looking for

  • Engineering Degree or qualification (HNC or HND)
  • Experience of Technical Management and /or Project Management
  • Experience of leading multidisciplinary teams
