We are looking for an experienced engineering manager in Durham, NC with product owner responsibility as part of the leadership team within Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division. You will be responsible for leading an engineering organization for the Hostbridge suite of products with managerial and supervisory authority over approximately 10 direct reports. Additionally in this role, you will need to navigate customer relationships and frequently interlock with product management to achieve success. 

In this role, you will work collaborating with team members and customers to set priorities. Excellent organization and problem-solving skills are a must. Your ability to adapt with changing priorities is an important strength. The individual and team goal will be to maintain high-quality software aligned with user needs and business objectives.

  • Note – This is an in-office position (5 days/week) located in Durham, NC.

Being able to work on mission critical, high importance software is a must. Mainframe literally runs the world’s economy.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with Product Managers, Engineering, Documentation, Support, and field teams, who assist in product adoption.
  • Direct report supervisory authority over approximately 10 engineers with varying levels of experience
  • Navigate customer relationships and be ready to directly interact with clients and customers for pre and post sale activities
  • Help manage the product lifecycle and agile delivery for the Hostbridge suite of products
  • Actively support and contribute to end of iteration demos
  • Mentor, train, develop and serve as a knowledge resource for less experienced Software Engineers
  • Continuously evaluate progress and guide the Agile Team towards delivering against the requirements.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to determine product positioning, market segmentation, channel mix, pricing, volume, product service/support strategy

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience as an engineering manager with direct report responsibility
  • Knowledge and experience with the Mainframe environment (ISPF, CICS, IMS, IDMS)
  • Experience in Agile Development

Recommended/Useful Skills

  • Familiarity with Splunk
  • Knowledge of Source Code Control Systems such as Endevor and Github
  • Programming language knowledge: Assembler, C++, JS, Typescript
  • Familiarity with Rally project tracking

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $111,000 - $185,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
