Position Overview:

Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento is the foundation of Sutter Health, Northern California's largest health network with 21 acute care hospitals, more than 5,000 primary care physicians and specialists, home health, occupational health, psychiatric care and more. The downtown Sacramento medical center is made up of several facilities that include Ose Adams Medical Pavilion, Anderson Lucchetti Women's & Children's Center, and Sutter Center for Psychiatry.

Sutter Center for Psychiatry places the patient first and always. We provide compassionate care, showing dignity and respect to the individual while focusing on safety and involvement of the individual and their family. Our recovery model is a program that empowers and encourages the patient and family to be active participants in treatment decisions and development of skills and tools to support them in their daily life. We provide services to children from age 5 to elderly patients through a spectrum of care that allows each person to find the level of care needed to return to an active, healthy life.

We encourage family members and significant others to participate in each patient's care by taking part in education services, therapy and support groups.

The Director of Psychology provides administrative and clinical leadership for an assigned clinical department or program, which may include one or more patient care teams. Establishes and implements goals, standards and practices that guide and support patient care initiatives while ensuring the delivery of high-value quality care and exceptional care experiences. Develops and fosters a solid partnership with physicians, medical staff and Sutter Health leaders, care teams and other employees to facilitate and collaborate on initiatives, to resolve operational challenges and/or to improve processes. Works with senior leadership to develop and establish short- and long-term strategic plans that complement system, operating unit or affiliate goals and initiatives, including business, operations, and/or organizational priorities. Sets priorities and allocates resources to align with business objectives and annual plan. Develops and establishes the direction of policies and procedures, and sets a structure for providing safe, consistent and effective patient care. Establishes overall operating and capital budget with input from management team, ensuring financial targets are achieved and variances are addressed timely.

  • Master's: psychology

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

  • APA licensed within the area of expertise

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 12 years recent relevant experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience with and understanding of primary care/behavioral health integration.
  • Excellent leadership, oral and written communication, and planning and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of complex medical and mental health conditions and national standards of quality care.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, and sexual orientations, and treat each individual with respect and dignity.
  • Analytical skills to resolve complex issues, drive through obstacles, develop optimal growth opportunities, and deliver effective business solutions that meet the goals of the foundation(s), medical groups, operating unit and the enterprise.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and facilitate collaboration and communication across all levels.
  • Ability to embrace and understand the change process and effectively guides others through change.
  • Analytical and financial management skills with the proven ability to achieve sustainable and significant cost efficiencies on an organization-wide basis.
  • Ability to foster an interactive and collaborative environment, to influence individuals or groups with diverse opinions and to enlist cooperation without direct control/authority while building high performance teams committed to accomplishing initiatives in ecosystems that may be resistant to change.
  • Demonstrates commitment to providing exceptional customer service and responding to customer needs/requests in a prompt, courteous manner.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey concepts and communicate information or issues in a manner that is readily understood by management and employees.

Pay Range is $73.25 to $117.20 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
