POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Cross Functional WD Business Solutions Analyst manages and supports the financial business processes, applications, and systems. This position is responsible for evaluating, developing solutions, partnering with campus partners to implement, and training on process and systems flow. Functions may include analyzing functional and systems requirements, developing application architecture and design, writing code, validating data acquisition and output media/formats, designing user interfaces, developing and maintaining websites, interactive applications, simulations, video/audio streaming, working with users to test, debug, and troubleshoot applications, assuring software and systems quality and functionality, integrating hardware and software components, writing and maintaining program documentation, evaluating new and improved software applications and programming technologies, and ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices.
The Senior Cross functional Workday Business Solutions Analyst will work directly with UW Finance leaders and program managers to provide consultation and support in the collection, development, analysis, interpretation, and management of a variety of complex internal and external data sources. The Senior Cross functional Workday Business Solutions Analyst operates under general or minimum supervision and performs duties with broad latitude for exercising independent judgment.
Position Complexities:
Campus leadership and customer support:
Collaborate, communicate, and coordinate UW Finance leadership and program managers to provide consultation and support in the collection, development, analysis, interpretation, and management of a variety of complex internal and external data sources to coordinate with central partners to update or modify business systems processes in central systems
Provide strategy-driven, peer-to-peer leadership to colleagues across UW Finance and with UW partners
Successfully navigate the complex structure of a central/decentral system at the University
Negotiate priorities and resolve conflicts between unit requests and priorities and UW Finance and University mission, goals, and priorities
Integrate unit priorities and programs into UW Finance and university priorities
Lead and move projects forward effectively, even in situations where s/he has little or no direct control of or influence over project partners
Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal partners (central partners and unit partners) and external partners
Support & serve internal/external customers as required
Organize day to day ticket flow for self and team and create necessary dashboards using tools to support customer service objects, project management and reflect team’s capacity
Suggest best practices to customers/campus as required

Skills Complexity
Requires competence in a diverse set of skills and knowledge of University systems and business processes including an understanding of:
Day to day of unit operations
Financial business operations including budget management, payroll, purchasing, travel, reconciliation, grants management
Financial systems implementations
Data and reporting needs at the enterprise level
Conversant with MS office suite, task management tools, reporting tools, etc.
Ability to wear multiple hats and willing to chase cross functional implications & complex solutions
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Systems Analysis and Planning
Analyze and resolve complex Workday and related system problems and issues that may involve multiple central finance offices and/or campus partners to develop a solution.
Partnering with Business System partners and process owners to document systems issues and solutions, data flow, integration, workflow, pain points, potential rework, and opportunities.
Analyze business problems and develop solutions; identify and assess alternatives; develop business cases and proposals that support decision-making among a diverse set of process partners.
Help configure or design configurations within Workday.
Identify issues and risk trends based on incoming tickets; develop system-wide (either within business systems or processes) solutions.
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts.
Oversight to all incoming tickets and ensuring proper escalation on critical or enterprise-wide issues.
Identify, coordinate, and resolve configuration changes, break fixes, and other remedies to correct business process flows and outcomes, liaising with production support units (e.g., UWIT).
Collaborate with the Application Support team on engagement and communications on campus issues related to Workday or other enterprise systems.
Liaison between UW Finance and the Application Support team and governance.
Assist in and liaise with functional subject matter experts, across UW Finance and others, regarding complex business processes, providing targeted training, if needed, including with Shared Environments.
Assess needs and create, or contribute to the creation, of tools and resources for business partners and Shared Environments.
Coordinate with other UW Finance Sr. Workday Business Analysts, functioning as a “virtual team” to ensure integrated processes work as intended.
Create and maintain business process and systems documentation.
Conduct ad-hoc analysis and reporting as necessary.
Use independent judgement to determine appropriate escalation and resolution of issues within program structure.?
Project/Program Administration
Perform unit/department functional tasks as needed:
Function as an internal consultant for new processes post FT
Provide the communication “bridge” between old and new processes
Participate in coordination efforts with key campus partners and external partners such as (vendors, suppliers, and local, state, and federal agencies)
Support and assist with complex or seldom executed transactions
Assist in developing and maintaining materials and information on the knowledge platform (i.e., UW Connect)
Participate in the identification and requirements gathering for reports needed to support effective procurement processes and information
Produce documentation and/or visual aid to achieve department goals as required
Create presentations to facilitate meetings to validate, prioritize, and document requirements.
Customer Support & Other duties as assigned
Train and cross-train UW Finance staff on business processes and systems; provide mentorship to UW Finance program staff.
Provide backup support in providing guidance to the campus Shared Environments.
Organize day to day ticket flow for self and team and create necessary dashboards using tools to support project management and reflect team’s capacity
Monitor customer service problem resolution for Workday, through UW Connect, and help develop and improve tools and performance management systems to improve customer service.
Helps in creating an environment of knowledge sharing across teams through knowledge transfer sessions in team meetings, supporting team members and ultimately sharing knowledge to UW fin stakeholders and customers.
Partner with Change & Communication Lead to support orchestrating an internal knowledge base of process documentation, UW Finance policies which will help reference as training material for customers
Support Fin Ops Director and other UW Fin leaders as required
Support team members as required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Informatics, or related field
5 years of progressively responsible experience in complex analysis and tasks involving the development, implementation, and support of enterprise-wide applications and services in multiple languages and environments.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Significant understanding of technical and financial terms, business processes, and financial reporting.
Advanced Workday or similar ERP functional and design knowledge in reporting, configuration, and other technical topics.
Demonstrated experience in working on, communicating with, and building relationships with diverse groups and teams; respects, values, and contributes to UW Finance and UW’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Experience with system implementation deliverables and related analysis, including scope definition, requirements gathering, business process re-engineering, it-gap analysis, the total cost of ownership, benefits analysis, and business process improvement.
Advanced ability to develop efficient and effective analytic methodologies and approaches to generate value, address a broad range of operational and performance issues, execute the analysis in a timely, accurate and reliable manner, and communicate findings clearly and concisely to diverse business leaders, key contributors and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision on assigned tasks, deliverables and own them start to finish
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Have specialist knowledge and experience in Financial accounting, banking & operations, treasury operations, or GAAP Accounting.
Prior work experience at a Higher Ed institute or large consulting/audit firm
Prior work experience as a lead Business analyst or as a key point of contact
Knowledge and experience developing/implementing enterprise level software systems in support of administrative or operational needs
Previous experience with higher education financial and/or budget processes
Demonstrated success in facilitating work groups and ability to develop consensus
