Occupational Summary

Instruct group fitness classes offered to the general Recreation & Physical Education members at differing times throughout the day and week. These classes are separate from the classes offered through Physical Education department which are for credit courses.

Work Performed:

Teach the correct fitness methods depending on the class offered. Plan classes around the skill levels of the participants. Lead fitness classes and provide proper cues and modifications. Monitor the well-being of all participants. Encourage participants to continue with exercises and make healthy choices. Make sure that the classroom and equipment are in working order. Notify a supervisor if maintenance is needed or if equipment needs to be ordered. Enforce all fitness facility policies, rules, and regulations. Participate in regular in-service training sessions. Exercise regularly to maintain fitness level. Complete records and reports as needed. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education, Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Certifications: American Red Cross CPR/AED; Group exercise certification from a credible organization (NCCA accredited) or Physical Education degree.
