Overview
Avalara is looking for someone to support a growing risk and compliance team and to help build out the security risk management. Avalara’s Security Compliance team is responsible for managing various compliance risks across the company and looking to technology to help us mature and be more effective.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain standardized best practices, policies, and systems for Security Compliance through periodical reviews.
Perform assessments evaluating the design and effectiveness of standardized best practices
Prepare and present clear, concise written reports on results and findings
Work closely with system owners to ensure corrective action plans are in place to remediate gaps or deficiencies
Assist with the implementation of Security and Compliance applications as they arise
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
3+ years of work experience in IT Audit, IT Security, or IT Risk Management
Basic understanding of risk concepts, including risk identification, evaluation, mitigation, and measurement
Basic understanding of business continuity, disaster recovery, vendor risk management, data privacy, security compliance subject areas
Skilled in business risk analysis and making technical trade-offs between short versus long-term security and business goals
Self-starter, self-motivated, pro-active, and able to handle concurrent activities
Strong organizational and planning skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
