The Burns & McDonnell Energy Global Practice is searching for a Senior Level Electrical Engineer to join our Denver, CO regional office! Our energy experts offer turnkey solutions that take clients from project financing, siting, and permitting to turnkey construction and startup, and full lifecycle technical support of all critical subsystems. As one of the only firms in the United States to offer value, stability, and innovative technology in the power generation industry, Burns & McDonnell has the market expertise to manage all kinds of fuel technologies including supercritical pulverized coal, simple and combined cycle, gasification, solar, wind, and energy storage. Multi-disciplined power generation projects require engineers to work in a diverse project team environment and the ability to develop consensus in identifying the optimum solution to complex problems. These complex assignments require the application of advanced techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment, and/or technological methods. In addition to multi-disciplined projects, the Energy Electrical Department executes electrical upgrade projects for power plants and heavy industrial facilities. These projects require engineers to interact with Clients, work with their clients to develop solutions, and successfully execute these projects to make their Clients successful. These projects require the ability to troubleshoot and interpret conditions to develop desirable solutions.

Job Duties

• Perform marketing, project development, and proposal development for electrical upgrade and multi-discipline projects.
• Regularly meeting and corresponding with clients or outside personnel.
• Developing scope of work, conceptual design, and execution plans.
• Preparing engineering cost and man-hour estimates and schedules.
• Performing Project Management duties on electrical discipline projects.
• Performing Lead Engineer duties on multi-discipline power generation projects.
• Provide leadership, guidance, instruction, and mentorship to less experienced team members.
• Preparing or directing the creation of construction documents for the installation of new or modifications of existing power-generating facility electrical systems.
• Developing or directing the creation of equipment specifications, procuring, and factory acceptance testing electrical equipment.
• Coordinating project design assignments and design teams locally and with other office locations.
• Provide guidance and field engineering support to construction and startup personnel during construction and commissioning.
• Coordinate departmental and divisional initiatives locally and with other office locations.
• This position requires approximately 20% travel to Client offices and field project sites.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
• Or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering a plus.
• 7 years of electrical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.
• Experience in power generating facilities, process facilities, and/or large industrial facilities including the following design types, is strongly preferred: medium voltage, low voltage, lighting, grounding, electrical equipment control, protective relaying and associated systems design and construction administration.
• Software experience utilizing SKM Power Tools, ETAP, SmartPlant, SmartPlant Electrical, or similar software is preferred. Field construction and commissioning experience are preferred.
• Excellent written & verbal communication, as well as strong analytical & problem-solving skills, are required.
• Previous consulting engineering experience preferred.
• Completion of PE is strongly preferred.

Compensation Range

$155,000-$215,000

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
