Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

  • To provide support to a seamless contracts administration function on Site.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Handling of commercial and contractual matters and ensure that dealings with external entities, clients, contractors and suppliers are conducted in a professional manner.
  • Assisting in the formulation and implementation of contract management methodologies, policies, procedures and best practices
  • Administer contract finalization (distribute tender document, ensure commercial adjudication, make necessary recommendation)
  • Conclude the contract (draw up contract, obtain relevant signatures, issue contracts)
  • Must be familiar with the different contract suites e.g. NEC, FIDIC etc.
  • Administer execution of the contract (organize and attend meetings, assess monthly payments to contracts, ensure change control management on extra work authorizations, quantity amendment certificate, etc.
  • Maintain variation registrations and insurance claims, generate contractual correspondence, prepare contract final account)
  • Administer the close out of the project
  • Evaluation and risk assessment on contract conditions.

REQUIRED SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE 

Project Life cycle: knowledge of the main project phases 

Industry knowledge: Knowledge of the specific industry 

Technical Documentation: Ability to create, understand and communicate technical specification 

Commercial Principles: Understanding of contract types and of their main features 

Planning & Scheduling: Ability to plan using tools and methods 

Legislation & Standards: Knowledge of sector specific law e.g. Engineering, safety etc. and standard specifications e.g. Plant layout requirements etc. 

Quantity survey: Ability to interpret QS report 

Economical: Knowledge of economic fundamentals 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Grade 12
  • Legal / Commercial / Contracts law / QS qualification

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 - 8 years proven experience within Projects / EPCM environment 
  • Experience on large mining projects, with supervision of output quality.
  • Strong administration skills
