About the Role

The CID Technician I is responsible for assisting Manufacturing in the performance of continuous improvement projects as they relate to work design, production quality and efficiency. This role involves direct coordination with various Operation departments in the preparation of new process developments and changes.

Key Functions

Communication Maintains frequent and timely communication with team members and management to keep everyone current and well informed with accurate information concerning needs, opportunities and risks. Conducts or attends daily, weekly, monthly meetings, both ad-hoc or scheduled, leading or participating in an engaged and relevant manner. Negotiates needs, deliverables and timelines to meet business requirements.

Manufacturing Support Assists with all fulfillment aspects of existing products flowing through Manufacturing. Provides operational support to ensure Manufacturing partners can focus their resources on core business needs. Works with supervisor to continually assess the status of individual projects to ensure appropriate progress; resolving and communicating project delays or issues to CID Manager in a timely manner.

Resourcing Supports the sourcing process with technical expertise.

Testing & Compliance Documents and implements worker safety and environmental compliance needs generated by materials or processes introduced to the business. Organizes and conducts testing and timely audits to ensure existing products remain in compliance with UL standards.

Small Scale Development In conjunction with CID Manager, supports custom developments from concept through to fulfillment. Resources necessary components and develops processes to implement custom production. Creates and maintains documentation related to custom production including uploading data to ERP systems, producing Illustrated Work Instructions and conducting Training Within Industry (TWI).

Troubleshooting Documents quality issues for operational partners and vendors. Assists CID Manager in identifying solutions to quality issues where available.

Continuous Improvement Conducts research to identify best practice and works with CID Manager and cross-functional partners to standardize processes. Reports status of individual projects through email and through hosting cross-functional partners at meetings. 

Audits – Assists with and conducts auditing of current work processes with the aim of improving overall work design to meet business needs.

Documentation – Assists with the procurement-to-fulfillment processes, resources and materials are accurately documented with technical drawings, bills of materials, bills of operations, costing, ERP system-ready data and any other documentation needed to meet business needs.

Manufacturing –Develops, tests, trains, and implements new relevant processes and support materials to ensure the safe and profitable manufacturing of materials to meet business needs.

Effectively and clearly communicates potential risks in a timely manner.

Material Handling, Storage & Delivery –Develops, tests, and implements all relevant processes and materials to ensure appropriate product protection and brand appearance for the handling, storage and final delivery of existing products.

Additional Functions

Qualifications & Requirements 

Minimum 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment

Strong communication skills (interpersonal, relationship-building) with a well-developed ability to speak, read, and write, including writing clear and concise business communication

Proven understanding of proper Material Handling best practices and associated database transactions.

Well-developed Critical Thinking Skills with a willingness to question the Status Quo as business complexity necessitates

Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks

Able to work the same hours as their workgroup, including overtime

Time management and problem-solving skills; ability to multi-task and cope with conflicting constraints 

Strong attention to detail

Proficient in Microsoft Office, expertise with Excel and Word preferred

Structured, systematic understanding of business processes

Able to work full time, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime

Physical Requirements

Walk up and down stairs between floors several times per day

Work in a standing position for up to 8 hours per day

Use of computer up to 8 hours per day

Lift up to 40 lbs regularly and push up to 100 lbs regularly

Possible exposure to heat and cold and hazardous materials

Walking on uneven floors
