JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Erie, The Behrend College (Penn State Behrend), invites applicants for an open rank tenure-track position in Computer Engineering and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology programs. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of educators and researchers in nationally recognized programs with access to world class facilities. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate education, developing a program of funded research, and service to the university. Areas of teaching expertise include, but not limited to: embedded systems, microprocessors, computer architecture, computer networks, and operating systems. Research areas of interest include computer systems and architecture, computer networks and data communication, image and video processing, machine learning, cyber physical systems, and biomedical engineering. A Ph.D. in electrical or computer engineering or a closely related field is required by the start of appointment.
Research at Behrend is integrated into the student learning experience through our Open Lab model where learning and discovery are applied to solve problems defined in partnership with industry and government. The selected candidate is expected to work in a collaborative environment and establish a funded research program. Cross-disciplinary and collaborative research is encouraged.

Erie County is a major industrial, medical, service, and tourism center, and is within a two-hour drive of Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo. Residents benefit from a rejuvenated Bayfront District while enjoying a modest cost of living and affordable housing. There are five colleges in the area.
