Job Description Summary:

The newly established Computational Genomics Lab at Department of Pathology, University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, is accepting applications for a postdoctoral position in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics. The candidate will work on various projects in computational genomics, comparative, and evolutionary genomics.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field
  • Work Experience: 0-3 Years
  • Skills: Strong command of GNU/Linux systems and toolchains, expert level knowledge in R, strong experience in one scripting language like Perl or Python, and a basic familiarity with standard bioinformatics ecosystem

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: PhD in Computation Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field
  • Work Experience: 3+ years
  • Skills: Extensive programming experience in multiple scripting languages, especially with a biological background

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Use programming knowledge to help shape the scientific environment and computational infrastructure of the division
  • Apply for research grants
  • Contribute to manuscripts for publication
  • Aid in training other postdoctoral fellows, research associates, research assistants, graduate students, and other junior colleagues
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
