I'm Carlos Aranda, and I am the Cost Accounting leader for Emerson’s Appleton Group business unit. As a Cost Accountant on my team, you’ll be a key part of our global Finance organization, delivering accurate and timely cost reporting by analyzing financial data from eight of our manufacturing facilities around the world, aiming to optimize business decisions and drive cost reduction. This opportunity is based in Appleton Group’s largest manufacturing facility in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. This role will report to our Cost Accounting Leader with guidance from our Controller.

A DAY IN THE LIFE: 

  • Support the development and maintenance of annual standard costs for all products.
  • Contribute to month-end activities, such as inventory reconciliation, journal entries, and investigating plant variances.
  • Perform monthly variance analysis on cost of goods sold, raw materials, labor and overhead accounts.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Oversee our annual physical inventory activities across multiple locations. 
  • Support internal and external audits by promptly providing the requested deliverables to auditors.
  • Identify and validate cost reduction opportunities. 
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering to prepare the excess and obsolete reserve, ensuring accurate financial reporting.

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field of study.
  • +5 years of Cost Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in an ERP system such as, Oracle, SAP, or JD Edwards
  • Fluent in both English 
  • Willingness and ability to travel globally, up to 10% annually.
  • Able to work On-site
