Company Description

Founded in 1909, the Group has a turnover of £2.6bn and over 6,300 employees. Headquartered on a 900-acre site in Cambridge, Marshall is a unique private company committed to making a difference through providing support and services to its growing customer base.

At its core, Marshall is determined to develop and deliver long-term value whilst also noticeably contributing to making Cambridge a better place.

Marshall Land Systems provides its customers, UK based and International, with maintenance, supply and technical services as well as providing new product design and developments of Deployable Infrastructure, Medical & C2ISR, and Vehicle Systems. Programs in this environment span the product lifecycle and project complexities and include design engineering, supply chain selection, manufacture, assembly, installation, testing and certification programs with subsequent rate production and through life support.

We are looking for a multi-disciplinary Project Manager to work on high-value, highly technological military projects where you will get involved in everything from new product introduction right through to delivery in a factory environment. This is a fascinating opportunity to be a part of major defence projects where you will see really tangible end-products.

To do this the Project Manager must foster a delivery focused culture within the project team, maintaining a balanced and positive approach in times of pressure. At all times the Project Manager should gain commitment and accountability through an inclusive and assertive management style.

Job Description

Implement/Comply with Lifecycle Management and Project Management processes on all projects/bids and support improvement of process where necessary.

Run Start-up meetings, daily stand-ups, monthly project reviews, Contract Status Reviews (CSR’s) and Gate Reviews with the team, ensuring full involvement and support of all service providers and independents as required.

Demonstrate a clear overview of progress, risk, issues and readiness at reviews with clear and accurate signed off minutes issued, and all actions logged/progressed through central action log.

Work with the Quality Department to ensure all processes are followed for the project and regular audits are in place and conducted.

Ensure all project requirements (e.g. technical, commercial, project management, delivery etc., both internal & external) are clearly understood from the outset (or firmed-up during the bid/contract negotiation phase) and documented in a Deliverables Matrix.

Work with the project team and functions to establish the project budget, and agree with PD/SPM.

Qualifications

APM Project Management Qualification, (PMQ), or PMI Project Management Professional (PMP).

Skills

Skilled in the use of MS Office, particularly MS Project and Excel.

Experience

Experience within a defence context is desirable but not essential.

This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in high-value military projects, to support the UK and NATO armed forces, and to have your ideas and contribution valued in a medium-sized business where people really matter.
