Nature of Work

The Medical Director at HRH MOB will provide physician leadership in leading a CU SOM multispecialty practice in the MOB adjacent to the UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital. This role involves coordinating the operations of the clinical programs and developing workflows that will support a standardized approach to the patient care experience. This is an at will position that will work under the direction of the CU Medicine Associate Medical Director, Adult Health and as a dyadic partner to the HRH MOB Practice Administrator The expected effort for this position is .2 FTE. The medical director is expected to have a clinical presence at the Highlands Ranch Medical Office Building.

Examples of Work Performed

Responsibilities:

Actively participate with the local CU Medicine integration leadership team to support provide a smooth transition from practice development and integration to ongoing operations, regulatory compliance, and revenue cycle requirements needed to run a successful free standing practice

1. Work with the physician leads in each HRH MOB practice to optimize clinic operations including

  • Room assignments
  • Staffing assignments
  • Resource deployment and requests
  • Standardized patient workflows

2. Support the HRH MOB physician staff by

  • Chairing the HRH MOB physician leadership board. Membership on the board will be the physician lead for each specialty practice. The board will meet at least monthly.
  • Recommend multispecialty staffing strategies to provide optimum access and service excellence
  • Review monthly dashboard reports of Highlands Ranch MOB physician performance and productivity. These reports will be shared with department/division and CU Medicine leadership to inform ongoing business decisions for program development.
  • Oversight of professional behaviors with mentoring and training as necessary. Collaboration with department/division leadership as necessary.

3. Take leadership in creating a service oriented/patient focused culture in collaboration with the HRH MOB Practice Administrator.

  • Review patient feedback regularly and use it to make operational improvements
  • Assist with patient complaints and associated service recovery

4. Support the HRH MOB Practice Administrator with clinical staffing.

  • Meet with the HRH MOB Practice Administrator at least weekly to identify and develop solutions for any barriers to efficient ambulatory operations
  • Partner with the HRH MOB Practice Administrator in clinical/clerical staff management selection, evaluation, and engagement
  • Review with the HRH MOB Practice Administrator at monthly productivity reports and develop any necessary action plans
  • Participate in “all staff” and “all hands” meetings

5. Develop community relationships in the Highlands Ranch area

  • Communicate to community stakeholders the value that CU SOM community practice brings to them locally
  • Partner with CU Medicine and UCHealth marketing and physician relations to develop marketing materials
  • Participate in community outreach activities
  • Role model and set standards around communication with referring physicians
  • Develop relationships with referring providers
  • Work with Associate Dean for Clinical Outreach to coordinate outreach activities
  • Develop visible presence by participating in community activities

6. Foster opportunities and provide mentorship for other HRH physicians to participate in community outreach activities, quality/safety/regulatory program development

  • Support the physician leads in Quality Improvement activities that improve the patient experience and satisfy quality reporting requirements for the physicians and practice
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory policies and procedures

7. Budget/financial performance management

  • Partner with HRH MOB Practice Administrator, CU Medicine Business Development and Planning, and Department leadership to develop annual budget
  • Review financial reports monthly with HRH MOB Practice Administrator
  • Work with CU Medicine Business Development and Planning and Departments to develop responses to any unfavorable financial trends identified on monthly financial reports 
  • Participate in the development of annual growth projections for the Highlands Ranch MOB location

8. Communication with key stakeholders

  • Meet at least monthly with Associate Medical Director, CU Medicine, Adult Health to review practice performance and communicate any operational concerns.
  • Meet regularly with HRH Chief Medical Officer and Chief Executive Officer to coordinate operations with the Highlands Ranch Hospital.
  • Develop and execute regular communication cadence with Department leadership regarding HRH MOB operations and performance.

9. Additional Meeting Responsibilities

  • POMC Meeting monthly
  • CU Medicine Medical Directors’ Meeting monthly

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:

Assistant Professor: $70,000 stipend and 20% salary support

Associate Professor: $70,000 stipend and 20% salary support

Professor: $70,000 stipend and 20% salary support

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Assistant Professor:

  • MD, DO board certified or trained and practicing in an adult health specialty
  • Full voting member of CU Medicine with a signed CU medicine member practice agreement
  • An unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Colorado

Associate Professor:

  • MD, DO board certified or trained and practicing in an adult health specialty
  • Full voting member of CU Medicine with a signed CU medicine member practice agreement

  • Administrative experience with operations, financial reporting, and personnel management.
