The Department of Pathology at the Yale School of Medicine is seeking a senior level faculty member (MD, MD/PhD, Ph.D), to serve as Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). The successful candidate will lead the DEI program in the Department and work with the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the School to advance workforce diversity, education, and ongoing DEI initiatives. The Vice Chair will support the overall Department DEI Strategic Plan's goals and objectives. This full-time position will be assigned at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor on the ladder faculty. The Vice Chair will engage with staff, trainees and faculty to increase the diversity and inclusiveness of the Department, implement training to reduce conscious and unconscious bias and aggression; implement policies that foster cultural humility, norms of social justice and inclusion; and maintain compliance with Federal, Connecticut and Yale policies. The Vice Chair will participate in faculty and trainee recruitment and outreach to potential applicants from groups under-represented in science and medicine. Protected time will be allocated for these DEI activities. The remaining component of the appointment will consist of clinical and/or scientific activities commensurate with the research, clinical and career interests of the applicant.

Qualifications

Eligible applicants include both clinical and research faculty with a record consistent with appointment as Associate Professor or Professor at Yale School of Medicine. Clinical applicants must be eligible for licensure in Connecticut and must have a focus on diagnostic excellence in an anatomic pathology environment, performing at a standard commensurate with a major academic medical center. Fellowship training in a subspecialty area would be advantageous. Scholarly activities, excellent communication skills and teamwork are essential. Applicants with a focus on research must have a track record of funded research program and accomplishments in a research field connected with disease mechanisms.
