Job Description

Adjunct Faculty to Educate Student in Clinical Settings.

We seek clinical faculty who have experience and specialization in the following areas: 

  • Pediatrics
  • Behavioral Health
  • Adult Health
  • Community Health
  • Foundations of Professional Nursing 

OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Dean of Nursing and the Prelicensure Nursing Program Director, Adjunct Clinical Faculty plays a vital role in the education of our students. Adjunct faculty are responsible for the clinical education of Pre-licensure BSN students and/or Pre-licensure MSN students. They are responsible for evaluating the clinical experience of the students and grading of all clinical assignments in collaboration with the primary course instructor. The adjunct clinical faculty will work closely with the primary course instructor to ensure that the clinical learning objectives are met.

PRINCIPAL AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clinical instruction of the assigned group(s) of students in the clinical and laboratory settings.
  • Attends hospital orientations prior to start of clinical.
  • Orient students to the clinical unit.
  • Select appropriate learning experiences for the assigned student group(s), i.e., client/patient assignments and planning clinical conferences, pre and post conferences.
  • Observation of the students’ performance, guidance of the students’ performance, review of procedures and principles as necessary.
  • Evaluation of students’ clinical performance on a weekly basis and verbally, as needed, on an individual basis, including written feedback.
  • Participates and lead simulated nursing experiences.
  • Maintain a cooperative, positive relationship with the staff on unit to facilitate the optimum learning environment for the students.
  • Maintain effective, on-going communication with the primary course instructor concerning student progress and/or concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Master’s Degree with Major in Nursing required
  • NJ RN License
  • Current Certification in CPR
  • Relevant/recent clinical experience

PREFERRED:

  • Certification in area of specialization
  • Simulation experience
  • Experience teaching at the baccalaureate level
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
