Behavioral Health Clinician - Quality Assurance

Position Summary: This position will coordinate quality assurance aspects of the Behavioral Health Outpatient Department. Assignments will include, but are not limited to, auditing outpatient behavioral health documents to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, accreditation standards, billing and coding, clinical accuracy, and standard of care. The QA Clinician will develop reporting and tracking procedures to monitor staff compliance and to assist with the development of required training. Clinical services such as screening, assessment, treatment planning and therapy may be required.

Minimum Education

Master’s Degree in a social services field approved by the Division of Behavioral Health such as Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Nursing with specialty in Substance Abuse and Mental Health. 

Minimum Experience

Ten years Behavioral Health experience. Five years supervisory or management experience. Experience with health care documentation and billing that adheres to Medicaid standards. Experience with a medical health record. Must be able to utilize current DSM and IDC diagnosis and codes. 

License, Certification, Registration

License as LPC, LCSW, LMFT preferred. Dual certification as a chemical dependency counselor preferred. 

Equipment/Tools

Must have basic moderate computer knowledge, and the ability to operate within an Electronic Health Record. Must be able to operate other basic office equipment including but not limited to fax, copier, and phone. standard off ice equipment usage skills.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Advanced written and oral communication skills. Ability to develop tracking systems for auditing chart documentation, regulatory standards, and corrections. Must be proficient in computer software programs such as word, excel, power point, and EHR. 

Supervisory Responsibilities

May supervise quality assurance employees as assigned by BHOP director.
