JOB SUMMARY

To provide clinical massage therapy services to Galter LifeCenter and the surrounding community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Galter LifeCenter and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the LifeCenter. 
  1. Therapist Responsibilities

1.1 Provide Manager with schedule and contact information

1.2 Attend dept meetings and All-Staff meetings

1.3 Complete required makeup material for missed meetings

1.4 Notify Manager or Manager on Duty of any situations that need to be addressed

1.5 Treat all members, guests, and all GLC employees with respect

1.6 Must be within a 60 minute drive and reachable by phone during your regular shift

1.7 Respond to all work emails within 48 hours

2. Scheduling Responsibilities

2.1 Ensure all appointments are scheduled with client and in Galter’s scheduling system

2.2 Inform clients of scheduling procedures and the 24hr cancellation policy

2.3 Ensure sessions are burned prior to beginning session 

2.4 Ensure client inquiries are returned to prospective/current clients within 24hrs

2.5 Handle any scheduling conflicts with clients personally – only refer to Courtesy Desk,

Manager, or MOD when absolutely necessary

2.6 Notify all IT Staff of room availability within 2-4 weeks of scheduled time off

3. Treatment Responsibilities

3.1 Upon first session, ensure client fills out health history form, and file it in designated area

3.2 Communicate with client as to what techniques will be performed

3.3 Provide appropriate education on self-care within scope of practice

3.4 Discuss frequency, duration, and need for ongoing treatments

3.5 All sessions must have SOAP notes in client file to document services rendered

3.6 Make appropriate referrals to other IT Providers and/or GLC/SCH staff as needed

3.7 Arrive to treatment room at least 10 minutes prior to shift

3.8 Help maintain Quiet Zone

4. Treatment Room Maintenance and Supply Upkeep

4.1 Ensure treatment room appearance and cleanliness throughout shift

4.2 Wipe down all work services at end of each shift

4.3 Discard soiled linens in appropriate location

4.4 Change used sheets and pillow cases after each client

4.5 Change blanket at least once per shift

4.6 Ensure sheets, pillow cases, face cradle covers, and blankets are stocked at end of shift

4.7 Ensure no other needed supplies (creams, needles, etc.) are left empty for next shift

4.8 Ensure sheepskin cover is cleaned after end of business day each Friday

5. Other Responsibilities

5.1 Maintain current IL State Licensure and provide a copy to Manager

5.2 Maintain and keep current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification

5.3 Provide IT lectures/workshops and/or service samples on or off site for GLC members/guests and/or broader community at least 1-2 times per year

5.4 Participate in special events at least 1-2 times per year (e.g. IT Week, Senior Health and Fitness Day, Go Red For Women, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Certificate of completion from a nationally recognized Massage Therapy School.
  • Current Massage Therapy License from the State of Illinois.
  • 2 years minimum massage therapy experience
  • Effective in massage therapy assessment diagnosis and treatment for medical and wellness populations.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an outgoing, friendly and polite personality.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Licensed Massage Therapist
  • CPR / First Aid / AED certification 

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

  • N/A

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACT

  • Contact with clients, GLC members / guests, SH community and community at large.
