JOB SUMMARY

The Public Relations & Marketing Communications Manager is part of an important team that creates and executes property-level communications to our guests. Under the leadership of the Director of Public Relations and Marketing Communications, this role promotes on-brand messaging to customers through traditional, digital, and social media channels with the goal of strengthening The Ritz-Carlton brand and enhancing its mystique. This role plans and executes the public relations and marketing plans, and activates appropriate channels to drive consumer awareness, increase market share, and brand building.

The Public Relations & Marketing Communications Manager is required to liaise with and cultivate deep partnerships with the regional brand, public relations, digital and marketing teams to effectively market and promote the hotel. This role also gets exposure to balancing traditional and digital marketing, eCommerce activities, to contributing to public relations activations for the hotel through executing strategic media pitches and campaigns, media hosting and gifting, and acting as a consultant to internal departments through offering opinions, creative ideas and insights. 

Public Relations

  • Develops and executes the annual public relations plan that will increase public awareness and create a positive perception of the hotel, its restaurants, leisure services, and our Ladies and Gentlemen
  • Develops new media contacts and maintains network of existing media contacts
  • Writes and distributes hotel and brand news releases
  • Manages the media database, prepares press kits and their distribution
  • Proactively profiles hotel sponsored events, community footprints initiatives and promotional offers
  • Supports pull through of impactful PR strategy & activities to drive quality press coverage through media engagement
  • Ensures that the monthly media and social media reports are completed on a monthly basis
  • Assists the Director of Public Relations & Marketing Communications with crisis communications as it pertains to the media and external/internal guests during an emergency
  • Provides timely and accurate responses to all media queries

Marketing Communications

  • Ensures that all hotel promotions are in keeping with The Ritz-Carlton brand image and reflect the highest level of professionalism in content and presentation
  • Manages the execution of the hotel’s marketing activities in conjunction with the annual marketing plan
  • Partners with other business units to execute promotions and campaigns to drive hotel revenue
  • Copy writes promotional material and briefs the creative agency on artwork requirements
  • Ensures all hotel collaterals are in adherence to The Ritz-Carlton brand voice and in compliance with Brand Standards Audit (BSA)
  • Plans and executes hotel photoshoots in accordance with The Ritz-Carlton brand requirements
  • Maintains frequent and active engagement with the Marriott Digital Services account manager to ensure all programme entitlements (SEO, PLUS, paid search, METT email campaigns) are fully utilised
  • Executes email marketing and display advertising
  • Works with online travel agents to ensure that the Hotel’s webpages are updated
  • Provides marketing subject matter expert consultation to other leaders in the Hotel

Social Media Management and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Engagement

  • Engages in proactive online reputation management by surfacing relevant guest comments (positive or negative) on social media channels and responding accordingly
  • Assists in the planning and execution of content creation for the hotel’s social media channels
  • Vets and plans KOL collaborations and engagements

Experience and Skills

  • A university degree or equivalent experience in public relations and/or marketing
  • A minimum four years of experience in public relations and/or marketing
  • Background in hospitality, travel or luxury goods
  • Excellent writing skills and speaking ability
  • Ability to organise effectively, multi-task and project manage
  • Exposure to crisis communications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, photo and/or video editing software
  • Excellent network of media contacts
