Essential Functions:

Designs and engineers system wide integration for the building control systems.

Coordinates the installation of pneumatic/electronic control systems for all campus HVAC systems throughout Mercy Medical Center seeking to integrate, standardize and achieve cost savings.

Coordinates troubleshooting and repair malfunctions on pneumatic/electronic control systems for major HVAC failures on all Mercy campuses. Schedules preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.

Reviews the work order backlog to ensure timely completion of work orders and recommends acquisition as appropriate.

Maintains a current equipment inventory in the equipment management computer system and assists in the evaluation of new equipment.

Establishes maintenance procedures with periodic review and revisions specific to the building automation system.

Purchases HVAC supplies, repair parts and services for the system in consultation with Plant Operations Manager and/or Power Plant Coordinator that are consistent with overall goal of integration, standardization and cost reduction.

Acts as a liaison to ensure effective communications between the leadership staff, customers and other departments and committees as it relates to the Building Automation System and the equipment that supports it.

Maintains all required records, reports, statistics necessary to satisfy regulatory, legal, or departmental regulations or rules in area of responsibility.

Provides training to engineering personnel for all campuses on the operational use of the energy management system.

Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.

Clears and resets the Pneumatic tube system as requested

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required.

An Associate’s Degree in Applied Science - Engineering or Electronics, with courses in boiler, refrigeration and electrical systems preferred.

A minimum of 10 years’ experience in plant operations and maintenance of building controls systems, required, with at least 3 of those years in a health care environment.

Valid Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
