Description:

Trinity Health Of New England is looking for an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team of mission-driven healthcare innovators at Saint Mary's Hospital. The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for assisting while providing exceptional care to patients with a variety of medical conditions.

The ideal candidate must be willing or already enrolled to track from LPN to Registered Nurse, as these individuals are to be groomed for potential residency programs once coursework and NCLEX are complete.

Under the general direction of the Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides direct patient care to patients of all ages. The Licensed Practical Nurse assists the registered nurse in the collection of data in accordance with the hospital and nursing philosophy, policies/procedures, and standards. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides direction to ancillary personnel and demonstrates a commitment to nursing practice, accountability, and growth.

Full access to medications is given to the incumbent of this position because they are required by their job responsibilities to handle, prepare, or administer medications as dictated by the applicable scope of practice regulations.

Work Hours/Shift:

Full-Time – 36 hours, Night Shift. Requires working rotating weekends and holidays as scheduled.

You Will Be Responsible For:

• Exceptional Patient Care: Contributes to the overall quality of nursing care through performance improvement techniques that impact patient care positively.
• Excellent Communicator: Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with admin, colleagues, patients, and family members.
• Strong Educator: Educate patients and family members to have a transparent understanding of the care being provided.
• Active Teamwork: Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork.

Requirements:

• Education: High School Graduate and graduated from the U.S. accredited LPN Program
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Must have current Connecticut LPN license.
• Experience: 1-3 years of Emergency Services experience. Emergency Department experience is preferred.
• BLS or CPR certification: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross will be accepted.
• Ability to pass drug screenings and background checks

Preferred Skills:

• Experience: Knowledge of current nursing, medical and health trends and practices. Excellent skilled observation and teamwork skills. Ability to read, write and speak English and do simple math problems. Experience using a computer is highly desirable.
• Education: Must be willing or already enrolled in a program to track from LPN to RN.
