Unit 4-1 services our Center for Orthopedics and our Accredited Center for Bariatric Services. 4-1 is a 20 bed Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit caring for patients admitted for orthopedic total joint surgery. We incorporate a wellness approach to our primary care nursing model with a team focus to meet the needs of our patient population. Healthgrades rated us Five-Stars for Total Knee Replacement, 13 years running, and awarded us Five-Stars for Total Hip Replacement in 2019. We’re nationally rated as high-performing in knee and hip-replacement surgeries by U.S. News & World Report. St. Joseph’s also earned the Women’s’ Choice Award for America’s Best Hospitals in Bariatric Surgery and Orthopedics.
St Joseph’s is a recipient of the Women’s Choice Award for America’s Best Hospital in Orthopedics, the Quality Award, and received 5-star Health Grade recognition for spinal fusion surgery.
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a licensed health care provider who provides nursing care under the direction of an RN, physician, or other authorized health care provider.
The Nurse Practice Act defines the practice of a LPN as "performing tasks and responsibilities within the framework of case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive and restorative care under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed physician, dentist, or other licensed health care provider legally authorized under this title and in accordance with the commissioner's regulations."
