Description:

The Materials Handler is responsible for receiving and distributing department food, related food supplies, administrative supplies and equipment delivered to the hospital. Distributes supplies to appropriate storage areas and coolers. Fills and delivers supply requisitions to requesting departments. Verifies accuracy and integrity of items received. Processes appropriate paperwork. Maintains storeroom, freezers and coolers in a clean and orderly condition.

Day-to-Day:

  • Receiving of food, department related supplies, administrative supplies, and equipment delivered to the hospital.
  • Verifies accuracy of packing slip to quantities received and ordered.
  • Verifies integrity of items received. Correct temperature and evidence of tampering or spoilage.
  • Processes all necessary paperwork associated with the receiving and distribution functions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Processes returns.
  • Assists as needed with the inventory and placing of orders to vendors.
  • Practices safety procedures. Utilizes tools, equipment, protective equipment, proper ergonomics, informing Supervisor of safety hazards and equipment failures.
  • Moves inventory from storage areas as needed for production, receiving and distribution functions.
  • Notifies supervisor of outdated, damaged items, stock outs and packing slip discrepancies.
  • Fills and deliveries supply requisitions to requesting departments.
  • Assists in other duties as requested.
  • Stores, restocks and shelves delivery items daily as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.
  • Computer and data entry skills preferred.
