The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist for the Student and Trainee Mental Health Service (STMH).

The Student and Trainee Mental Health Service (STMH) at Mount Sinai is a unique and rewarding multidisciplinary program dedicated to serving the needs of the medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in programs at Mount Sinai. STMH is primarily situated on the Upper East Side of New York city, adjacent to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. This is a full-time, outpatient position with a mix of on-site and remote/tele-health work, with late hours on at least two days of the week to meet the needs of the population we serve. The position is available from July 2023.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Staff Psychiatrist/Assistant Professor

Service: Student and Trainee Mental Health service – Outpatient

Purpose of Position:

• Provide psychiatric evaluations and treatments in an outpatient faculty practice for Mount Sinai Health System students (medical and graduate), post-doctoral trainees, and house-staff, ensuring appropriate longitudinal care.

Specific Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct psychiatric assessment and ongoing treatment (medication management and psychotherapy) of students and trainees
• Function as an integral part of a collaborative team which includes psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers
• Complete documentation and billing in a timely fashion as required by compliance

Specific Job Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree; completion of an ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency program; and be board certified/board eligible for General Adult Psychiatry
• New York State medical license
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to work as a member of a team
• Excellent clinical and psychopharmacological knowledge
• Training/experience working with a student population is desired
• Experience working with specialized populations – such as individuals with substance use-related problems, individuals with ADHD, and/or other specific conditions
• Experience working with the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities
• Excellent writing and computer skills, and ability to manage responsibilities of electronic documentation
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups
• Understanding of best practices in diagnostic evaluations and pharmacotherapy

• Includes an academic appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine at a rank commensurate with experience and qualifications
• Compensation range from 225K to 245K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)
