Responsibilities:
The Business Development Manager will report directly to the Site Director level. Typical responsibilities will include the following:
- Maintain, develop and deliver comprehensive campaign plans to ensure successful delivery of the business plan in terms of order intake and margins.
- Working with internal stakeholders and other Teledyne business units to establish strategies for products, ensuring technology roadmaps match customer requirements.
- Provide market information required for the basis of comprehensive business planning - such market information to come from both internal and external sources.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to maximise order intake across the business.
- Lead the Sales aspects of allocated campaigns. Prepare campaign plans, where appropriate, in accordance with best practice and ensure timely updates including critical actions and senior management engagement. Ensure all allocated campaigns follow the Teledyne Business Winning process.
- Update customer market intelligence on a regular basis to ensure coherent business cases.
- Where appropriate, recommend partners to allow more optimum business delivery.
- Be seen as the natural leader in terms of customer interface for allocated sales activities and campaigns.
- Acting as Opportunity Owner for major bids (£1M plus).
- Represent the Line of Business interests, establish appropriate relationships with and develop an understanding of business opportunities within and across Teledyne. Represent the Line of Business externally at exhibitions, symposia, events etc.
Skills, qualifications & knowledge required:
- Demonstrate ability to specify best in class sales material including animations, brochures, presentations and electronic data.
- Demonstrate ability to articulate clearly, verbally and in writing, with strong all round communication and management skills.
- Actively seek to adapt/increase existing business capabilities, products, organisation and processes.
- Ensure robust process and governance alignment whilst maintaining business winning principles.
- Have credibility with new range of customers and peers.
- Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a demanding business environment. Demonstrate ability to prioritise tasks.
- Bidding best practice for £1M plus bids.
- Ability to influence and present relevant and well-reasoned arguments and make timely informed decisions.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of senior stakeholders.
Desirable experience:
- Working with or for Defence Prime contractors.
- Solution selling.
- Electronic Warfare, Radars or Communications.
- Air, Land or Maritime Platforms.
- Space RF applications (including ground segment).
- Degree qualified in a relevant business or technical area.
Other factors:
The role will be office based, but will often involve a substantial amount of international travel. We may consider remote/hybrid working for the right candidate.
