Position Summary and Responsibilities:
- Specify / design blocks of lidar systems including signal detection, conditioning and A/D conversion as well as subsystems including optical scanners, lasers, position sensors and Time of Flight units
- Guide system cabling design to meet signal integrity and EMI and EMC objectives
- Develop design validation procedures and guide test jigs design.
- Selection of electronic parts. Supporting parts procurement and supply chain monitoring.
- Prepare and present diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations to support team decisions.
- Participate in all aspects of the project life cycle including concept definition and trade-offs, requirements development, design, testing, release, and maintenance.
- Design and perform laboratory experiments constructing electro-optical systems.
- Ensure that system design meets relevant agency requirements, including airworthiness and EMC
- Provide technical support for program planning, development & implementation and support project status determination & reporting
- Support technical design reviews
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Sc. or higher in Electrical or Electronic engineering with minimum five years of professional experience.
- Ability to develop schematics and guide PCB Knowledge of Altium and asset.
- Ability to interact with mechanical, Digital/FPGA, embedded software, and test engineers and mentor junior team members
- Knowledge of low noise, wide bandwidth amplifiers, photo detectors and wide dynamic range signals detection techniques.
- Experience with opamps, ADCs and DACs.
- Familiarity with analog electronics, signal processing, data acquisition
- Knowledge of high speed circuit design including nano/pico second switching times
- Knowledge of basic optical components, concepts and procedures.
- Knowledge of PSPICE or another mixed signal/power simulation software.
- Control systems including PID regulation
- Telemetry control/diagnostic techniques
- Familiarity with FPGA functional blocks and power requirements
- EMC compliance including RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-461, IEC standards
