We are recruiting a Senior Manager for Mobile Systems DevOps within Networks. This role is key to delivering our ‘Mobile Network Leadership’ and ‘Transforming our Operating Model’ strategies through aligned data analytics capabilities and digital solutions.

You will be working in a software engineering development team in charge of BT Mobile networks, with the responsibility of rolling out 5G networks across the UK, automating the mobile network roll-out, developing mobile 5G network applications, API development and data-driven Operations using machine learning and AI. This new role aims at BT’s mobile network strategy to achieve end-to-end digital transformation. This role reports to the Director of Mobile Systems Development and can be based in any of our London or Bristol Offices with an opportunity for hybrid working (3days in the office and 2days wherever you like). In addition, the role holder must be a UK National or have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 years, as Home Office Security clearance (BPSS) will be required. What you’ll be doing

  • Accountable for creating an environment that enables our stakeholders to use DevOps tools for CICD, automation and Data to derive new insight and predict outcomes using AI, statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • Take ownership and evolution of business support tools for efficient delivery and deployment of mobile networks to ensure e2e Asset Management and Financial Compliance.
  • Build, coach, mentor, develop and line manage a DevOps management/analysis talent team to adopt Agile and value-based delivery principles to support and accelerate the group-wide DevOps strategy.
  • Develop strong relationships with teams in Architecture, DevOps Management, Data Governance, and Data Science, as well as external leaders in the industry to ensure sharing & consistency of best practices and utilising cross-functional technologies.
  • Build and own the architecture and transformations roadmap for business tools and systems for inventory, asset management and deployment planning tools.
  • Operational transformation in our build, design, and planning through the adoption of insights and automation tools
  • Manage the e2e business systems blueprint and aligned roadmap for network delivery and control systems (e.g., inventory, asset management and other core business support tools)
  • Carry out the strategic definition of DevOps principles to achieve streamlined service delivery.
  • Accountable for realising value from DevOps and data, ensuring that business value is entirely generated, and delivering fundamental scorecard KPIs, including revenue, cost savings and customer experience improvements.
  • Lead the strategy on the use of mobile data insights to support 4G and 5G commercial activities.

The skills and experience you’ll need

  • Proven skills in data analytics, data science, big data and their application to network and service operations.
  • Technical Domain Expertise: Significant expertise in service and network technologies and solutions, particularly the application of DevOps, CICD, Big Data, Machine Learning, operational research, and data science.
  • Considerable hands-on (10+ years) experience in containerisation and automation stack (Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible), advanced analytics and AI (cloud platforms, DevOps, scripting, No-SQL, etc
  • Hands-on experience in Java, Python, ELK and GCP.
  • Strategic and Commercial expertise in 4G and 5G technologies with a proven ability to translate and communicate complex technical ideas into business opportunities.
  • Expert knowledge in shaping technology deliverables for the best network and customer experience initiatives.
  • Proven record of forming strategic alliances to deliver a valued outcome for BT Group.
