Job Summary

JOB PURPOSE

Early 2018, Imerys has launched an ambitious internal transformation program to foster efficiency within the group: MAKE IT #1. MAKE IT#1 Group wide digital transformation is reshaping Imerys Digital landscape, encompassing 5 pillars: a set of common language and processes, a global ERP Core Model S4/Hana based (Opera Project), a common collaboration platform (GNOC, GSOC, unified WAN) and a common unified IT organization. 

MAKE IT #1 aims at:

  • Implementing common IT processes and tools,
  • Harmonizing & rationalizing the IT landscape (processes, infrastructure and applications),
  • Supporting existing programs and preparing the future (Industrial, Commercial Excellence, etc...)

In order to enable seamless development and roll out of these new tools and processes, Imerys IT is evolving, in 2021, from an IT with strong regional platforms, to a more global organization, to enable a strategic & consistent partnership with the BAs & functions as well as simplifying and harmonizing the IT landscape. 

This position is part of the Opera Services organization and reports directly to Opera Services IT Director. 

The purpose of the Opera SAP S/4 Technical Manager is to lead SAP Architecture and Development stream, to :

  • Contribute to Imerys’ transformation being the SAP Technical Architecture referent within Imerys 
  • Contribute to the success of the Opera program by providing technical drive to solution components during and after the Opera rollouts across Imerys Business Areas.
  • Manage the SAP development team (ABAP and FIORI) 

JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS

  • Opera Scope:
  • ERP : SAP S4/HANA Cloud Private Edition (20.20) 
  • Interfaces Between SAP ERP and satellite group applications (Workday, SalesForce.com, Magnitude, Finario, Synertrade, Concur, eCash, BI Booster) or outsourced solutions (Transwide, Payroll, EDI with suppliers and customers)
  • User number: target 5,000+ users (3000 as of April 2023)
  • The role is directly responsible to manage IT internal and external experts.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Opera Integration Manager is responsible for the success of IT integration projects and interface deployments across Imerys countries. She/He provides an organizational, functional and technical drive to Imerys entities during the integration project.

The Opera Integration Manager is responsible for the integration project management activities (tracking against plan, action log, status report, critical path, meetings preparation and minutes, understanding of the solution, leading enhancements…). 

He/She is responsible to mentor, to coach and to deliver successful integration projects.

Job scope covers integration projects for Imerys Group Application Direction, it includes all development of interfaces for Core Model application as well as for existing applications that remain after implementation of Make IT#1 applications.

Team Management:

  • Provide leadership and guidance for Opera Tech team in charge of SAP developments (Planning, Change Management, Training, issue resolution, methodology ..) participating in drawing action plans in case of potential deviation
  • Centralize detailed planning information, metrics and main deadlines for his/her team so to provide regular reporting/dashboards on current state of projects, scope changes, maturity levels and risks mitigation.
  • Provide information about the overall workload of team
  • Implement and coordinate a regular capacity review process for his/her resources and detect issues, proposing mitigations
  • Follow staffing performance indicators (staffing levels, etc.) to anticipate resources contention, raise alerts and implement actions accordingly
  • Provide to governance bodies with relevant information/analysis on projects, project status and workload estimates/follow up to support decision and validation processes; report arbitration needs and make recommendations (prioritization, abandonment, …)
  • Manage conflicts (objectives, resources, budget) within IT as well as with Business in order to overcome projects achievement roadblockers. 
  • Take relevant decision for the team and lead them to be accountable and achieve their goals

Architecture: 

  • Provide leadership and guidance in term of SAP architecture 
  • Identify SAP architecture improvement points and drive their implementation 
  • Collaborate with SAP IT stream Leaders and Business Architects, on functional and technical side, promoting seamless integration and interactions across the teams 
  • Create a strong collaboration with other IT Departments, in particular SAP Basis and Data&Integration teams 
  • Represent SAP perspective within Imerys Architecture Council 
  • Work on SAP BTP platform settings and value leveraging 
  • Ensure technological watch (SAP Roadmap) 

Development activity:

  • Manage the SAP Opera Development factory. 
  • Define DevSecOps framework & toolkit for Tech team
  • Provide methodology and review the Functional and Technical Specifications (FSD)
  • Challenge FSD quality
  • Challenge the Change Requests to not accept any deviation from standard SAP functionalities : Promote the usage of native features of SAP S4 and drive innovations around Fiori, Hana, Mobility
  • Manage the SAP Opera Development factory. 
  • Follow up every week the progress of developments. 
  • Maintain KPI up to date every week. 
  • Keep accurate the forecast of developments every quarter. 
  • Build a report on the progress every month.
  • Ensure the quality of the deliverables:

Solution knowledge: 

  • Strong knowledge on SAP ABAP, SAP Architecture, SAP Process Orchestration 
  • High experience on management of Integration teams

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements

Essential

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering
  • 8-10 years’ experience in SAP architecture, SAP Development and technical project management
  • At least one experience in SAP S/4 Hana Cloud - Private edition (version 18.09 or upper) environment
  • You are deeply knowledgeable in SAP systems such as SAP HANA, FIORI, SAP PI/PO, SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform), SAP DS, SAP SAC, OpenText, and their architecture
  • Implementation of SAP Asset Manager and SAP LB4N (ex LBN) into BTP would be a very strong plus 
  • Understanding of our functional scope : SAP FI/CO/MM/VIM/embedded eWM/PP/QM/TM/SD/embedded TM/MDG)
  • Certifications such as HANA, SAP BTP and/or HANA modeling would be a plus.
  • Experienced with ABAP, OO ABAP and FIORI development, including RFC, BAPI, ITS Mobile, OData on S/4 HANA environment 
  • Interface development principles, IDocs, ALE, Webservices
  • Fluent or native English speaker
  • Experience of working within a culturally diverse global company.

Desirable

  • Experienced with HTML/javascript/ SAPUI5 is a plus
  • Conversant in French or another European language would be advantageous
  • ITIL certification
