JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the manufacturing activities related to the contact lens manufacturing process, maintaining high productivity, exceptional quality and build team moral.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Understand and adhere to specified Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’S), and written work instructions (WI) complying with FDA requirements and ISO standards.
  • Familiar with equipment in the lab and have ability to troubleshoot problems.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the facility, and maintaining lab consumable supply levels
  • Open communication and feedback with Operations Coordinator, Sr. Technicians and Production Manager.
  • Adhere to strict tolerances, verifying each finished lens conforms to associated work order.
  • Document processes accurately in accordance with Good Documentation Practices Standards.
  • Maintain constant open communication with Manufacturing Technicians and conduct all Job Duties in a professional manner.
  • Maintain and approve employees timecards.
  • Work with other departments on projects to increase productivity, quality and cost reduction.
  • In coordination with the Production Manager, implement Lean Manufacturing and Six sigma tools.
  • Monitor supplies level and order them on time to guarantee the continuous operations of the production floor.
  • Ensures continued adherence to standards of tolerance and product quality.
  • Maintain regular observation of all production operations and processes and act as a resource for employee inquiries.
  • May evaluate new or prototype equipment relative to production.
  • As needed, substitutes for production employees to assure a smooth work flow and optimum production.
  • Enforces adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and regulatory requirements, including FDA, GMP, and ISO.
  • Coaches employees on demonstrating behavior which models CooperVision’s values
  • Responsible for employee staffing per production requirements.
  • Hires, trains, develops, and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.
  • As business needs dictate, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to include mandatory overtime.
  • Approach to the manufacturing operations with continuous improvement culture

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Advanced Microsoft office knowledge (excel, outlook, PowerPoint, notes, projects, word)
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Manage staff and maintain high moral.
  • An understanding of team building and working with people.
  • Knowledge on Lean manufacturing
  • Knowledge on Six-Sigma
  • Experience with conflict management.
  • Adaptable, able to creatively brainstorm and work successfully with other departments on issues outside of manufacturing control.
  • Have the ability to effectively communicate technical system problems to support groups.
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Must be extremely proactive in problem solving and equipment performance.
  • Proven experience leading mid to large size groups of people (+30 employees)
  • Analyze yield and efficiency data and adjust as necessary to meet shift goals.
  • Creation of new or updating current Work instructions and Standard Operational Procedures to reflect any changes in our process and make them more accurate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Job position requires the ability to stand for up to 12hrs continuously.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical/medical device manufacturing and demonstrated capacity for leadership. 

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • BS degree preferred.
