Job Description
Teledyne Brown Engineering is currently seeking a Space and Defense Solutions Chief Engineer for our Huntsville, Alabama location, with an active / active clearance to support various program groups.
This role will report to the Vice President of Space and Defense Solutions.
Essential Job Functions
Responsibilities include coordination of engineering organization resource development, resource planning and sourcing to meet program goals across the company, integration of resources company-wide, monitoring technical performance, and serving as the technical interface with external customers as needed. This position ensures appropriate application of Engineering standard work and performance and quality requirements for all phases of programs.
- Technical execution of major space and weapon systems development programs.
- Supports program execution as the definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on all program elements (hardware/software/support/test).
- Partner with Program Management to meet program objectives, technical requirements and schedule.
- Manage and lead a cross-functional team of high performing engineers and coordinates with the functional organization to ensure execution of program statement of work and technical program requirements are met
- Maintain technical cognizance and oversight to achieve efficient, effective, and innovative Engineering solutions a cross program IPTs for requirements development, hardware/software design, payload integration and verification/validation activities.
- Develop architectures and concepts for autonomous weapon systems and subsystems including flight sensors, flight computers, communications, air breathing propulsion, payloads and air vehicles.
- Apply new technologies, as well as common designs, towards affordable solutions and products while enabling rapid development, prototyping, system and subsystem demonstrations.
- Solves complex technical problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative and achievable
- Lead the development and execution of technical reviews
- Interface with the design and implementation engineers and architects to ensure that robust and compliant designs are developed
Education and Experience:
- Requires a master’s degree in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Must have an Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Alabama or be able to obtain professional engineer licensure within Alabama by comity (i.e., have an active P.E. from another state) within 90 days of hire.
Other Requirements:
- Demonstrated project prioritization in the space and defense industry technical management, technical leadership of multifaceted engineering teams.
- Demonstrated analytic skills to include mathematics, modeling, and probabilities/statistics.
- Strong Internal / External customer interface is required.
- Successful and strong technical leadership experience
- Candidate must be proactive in interfacing with all disciplines of engineering to define and execute strategic objectives
- Driving all technical strategic goals, product technical roadmaps, and technical objectives for the company
