LOCATION OF POSITION

Main Purpose of Job

Psychology Associate, Doctorate is the nonlicensed, doctoral level of work rendering psychological services to residents, patients or clients. Employees perform psychological evaluations, psychotherapy and psychological interviews. The position functions as a doctorate level psychologist and is responsible for providing direct clinical services under the direction of a licensed psychologist in the Reception/Assessment Unit. This position will provide psychological evaluations for youth pending disposition and placement and make appropriate recommendations and referrals for suitable assignments. This includes administering psychological tests, interpreting the results, providing reports to the court and other agencies, and attending/consulting with the treatment staffing team related to psychological issues.�\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

The Department of Juvenile Services is accepting applications on an ongoing basis for the Psychologist Associate Doctorate position.��The position functions as a doctorate level psychologist and is responsible for providing direct clinical services under the direction of a licensed psychologist in the Reception/Assessment Unit.��� This position provides psychological evaluations for youth pending disposition and placement and makes appropriate recommendations and referrals for suitable assignments.� This includes administering psychological tests, interpreting the results, providing reports to the court and other agencies, and consulting with the treatment staffing team related to psychological issues.�\r\n

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education:���A Doctorate degree in Psychology as defined by the Health Occupations Article, Title 18-101 (g), Annotated Code of Maryland.\r\nExperience: One year of supervised experience rendering direct psychological services, providing psychological assessments, and evaluating the delivery of psychological services.\r\nNotes:�\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the completion of a twelve month full-time or twenty-four month half-time internship in rendering psychological services for the required experience, provided the internship is a requirement for the Doctorate degree in Psychology.\r\n2.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service�experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in�Clinical Psychology classifications or Psychology specialty codes in the Psychology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

In accordance with the Health Occupations Article, 18-301 (b4), Annotated Code of Maryland, employees in this classification are required at the time of hire to apply jointly with the supervising Psychologist to the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for an exemption from licensure.� The exemption must be received within six months of submitting the application.\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1.�Candidates for this classification may be given a medical examination to determine their ability to perform job related functions.\r\n2.�Employees in this classification must be licensed as a Psychologist by the�Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists within three years of appointment to a position.\r\n

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet the Minimum Qualifications will be placed on the eligible list categorized as BEST QUALIFIED. Candidates shall be certified to the eligible list for a period of one year.�� This list will be used by the DJS hiring agency to select employees. \r\n
