The Sports Performance Coach Resident is responsible for the development, and implementation of sports performance training programs for individual or group athletes (youth, junior high school, high school, collegiate, adult, and elite) under the mentorship of the Sports Performance Residency Director and other Sports Performance Coach Preceptors.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Must be physically capable of the potentially strenuous activities typical of someone engaged in leading a Sports Performance programs. Must be able to effectively listen and communicate with people in-person, via email, over the telephone or via virtual Zoom/ Microsoft Teams conference calls. Must be capable of using a computer keyboard. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Physiology, Kinesiology, Health and Physical Education, Biology, Athletic Training and/or a closely related field required. Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) - Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) – qualified to sit for the exam within 6 months of start of residency. Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) - National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) - qualified to sit for the exam within 6 months of start of residency. National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) - qualified to sit for the exam within 6 months of start of residency. American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Health Fitness Specialist Certification (HFS) - qualified to sit for the exam within 6 months of start of residency. BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) Program within 30 days of hire.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of internship with recognized sports performance organization, high school, collegiate or professional team.
