The candidate must have experience in the design and processing of Ceramic Matrix Composites (C/SiC, SiC/SiC, Ox/Ox and/or C/C), fiber preform design and specification and fabrication methods, composite densification/infiltration methods. Hands-on experience in materials property measurement (room and high-temperature mechanical testing, DSC, TGA, DMA, LFA etc.) and microstructural characterization (optical, SEM, TEM, microCT etc.) is required. Additional experience in polymer matrix composites, polymers and metals is desirable.

Core Area 2: Hypersonic Systems

The candidate must have experience in hypersonic systems, flight hardware or ground test facilities. Particular focus lies on design and testing of flight control structures, propulsion systems and other areas with high material demands.
