The Opportunity

CSL Seqirus has a rare opportunity for an Instrumentation Technician to focus on the maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and to maintain the site's automated control systems. The position is a Monday to Friday day shift opportunity, with requirements to work weekends during shutdown periods and provide on-call coverage.

Reporting into the Electrical Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation, you will be responsible for fault correction, calibration, preventative maintenance, and overhaul of instrumentation and control equipment. You will assist in maintaining the integrity of the engineering stores and perform tasks including; shut down, isolating and test running machines and equipment. You will report on measured non-compliance conditions, abnormalities, and maintenance difficulties.

The Role

  • Shut down, isolate and test run machines and equipment for maintenance purposes;
  • Diagnose faults in, repair and calibrate control and monitoring loop elements, electronic systems and sub-assemblies;
  • Diagnose faults on interconnected and non-interconnected electrical circuits and systems;
  • Perform routine calibration of process instruments, both in-situ and in the workshop;
  • Report measured non-compliance conditions, abnormal problems found with equipment and maintenance difficulties to the Maintenance Engineer – Electrical/Instrumentation;
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks following SOP's;
  • Interpret control system and electrical/electronic circuit diagrams and engineering drawings and prepare sketches of system and circuits/circuit modifications.

You will work within a regulated environment, with rigorous Operating Procedures in place for all tasks and activities. Work is generally in a clean room environment, requiring strict adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices.

Your skills and experience

  • Qualification as an instrumentation technician
  • Expertise in advanced control system fault diagnosis and corrective action, in servicing modern process control systems
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical, FMCG or chemical production environment is desirable
  • Experience with calibration methods and experience conducting non-conformance investigations;
  • Familiarisation with SAP ECC (or other version) desirable.
  • Good verbal, written, communication and computer skills;
  • Read interpret P&ID and E&I (wiring) diagrams
  • Experience working within a Permit to Work system using SWMS/JSA
