The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will be a field-based representative of the Medical Affairs who will serve as a scientific expert in the assigned therapeutic areas to develop and manage relationships with key external medical experts, support medical education and scientific exchange, aiming to the optimal scientific positioning and appropriate use of CSL’s products.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Work collaboratively and proactively with the Cross-Functional Team to develop strategic Medical, Scientific and Relationship management plans that align with business objectives;
  • Provide Medical input into key Cross-Functional groups (including but not limited to): Marketing; Sales; Regulatory; Pharmacovigilance; Market Access; Clinical R&D, Business Operations; Manufacturing and Quality for successful development and life cycle management of products;
  • Key member of the New Product introduction process (pre-launch, launch); Responsible for leading medical activities required for this process.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the assigned therapeutic areas, products and the competitive landscape; to be considered a field-based scientific expert by internal and external customers;
  • Maintain current & up-to-date scientific knowledge to be able to interpret and convey accurate scientific data to internal & external customers, including through scientific presentations;
  • Provide a high-level point of contact for scientific interaction between customers and CSL Behring; Be the medical/scientific interface with stakeholders in dealing with product related issues;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external medical experts, support medical education and scientific exchange, enhance CSL’s reputation as a scientifically innovative industry partner, demonstrate the benefits of CSL products aiming to their optimal scientific positioning and appropriate use;
  • Respond to customers’ requests for Scientific/Medical Information in a compliant, timely and customer-focused manner;
  • Conduct training to relevant internal stakeholders with respect to disease/CSL products;
  • Ensure proper information dissemination, review/authorship of promotional/non-promotional material in alignment with the relevant codes of practice;
  • Contribute to the development of the local Medical Plan; implement Medical Engagement Plan via f2f & digital activities;
  • Represent CSL at relevant national and international scientific congresses; Facilitate Speaker management and presentation of data at medical/scientific meetings including symposia, webinars, online/live meetings with external medical experts;
  • Support the generation of real-world evidence and any publication activities;
  • Facilitate the consideration of proposals for investigator-initiated studies and site feasibility assessments;
  • Actively seek and comprehend the clinical gaps that could facilitate the development of new therapeutic agents/indications;
  • Identify unmet medical needs and reinforce the patient focus of all medical activities;
  • Interact responsibly and within Medical Governance and Compliance Guidelines (and/or relevant government/industry codes) with all stakeholders; Ensure medical activities related to the company’s products are conducted in a compliant manner and comply with CSL SOPs and policies;
  • Ensure communications are tracked in appropriate systems to ensure CSL Behring is compliant with good governance and transparency regulations (Veeva etc.).

Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • University degree in Health/Life Sciences (e.g. biologist, pharmacist, MD)
  • MSc/PhD/PharmaD in a relevant scientific field would be preferred
  • Three (3) years’ experience in industry (pharmaceutical/biotech company)
  • Experience in KOL management
  • Familiar with medical affairs activities and regulations
  • Experience in therapy areas of Hematology/Immunology/Rare diseases will be considered an asset
  • Excellent command of the English language, verbal and written
  • Literacy in the use of PPT, Word, Excel, web-based systems and databases required
  • Driving Licence required
  • Willingness to travel as this is a field-based role
  • The role will require offsite attendance at Meetings, Conferences, Congresses which includes interstate and international travel
