Job Description

Summary

To be the Design Quality Engineer (DQE) focal in support of the Product Hardware and Software Design Development Phases and product lifecycle activities including creative input to design/process development, design controls, quality planning, Risk Management, test method development, verification and validation, and post-market monitoring.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

  • Assure Engineering and Program Management compliance with Teledyne Controls Contract Requirements, AS9100 and ISO9001 standards, FAA regulatory requirements, development standards, and established processes.
  • Apply working knowledge of Design and Development of Software to DO-178, AS9115 and of Hardware to DO-254.
  • Must be able to provide guidance and establish quality positions regarding program development compliance issues to program management and engineering personnel.
  • Develop understanding of the product, production process, regulatory requirements and the failure modes typically experienced by the customer.
  • Performs Hardware and Software document reviews, Development Folder, Process Audits, and Prepare review/audit reports.
  • Engages with the involvement of Hardware and Software design and development review meetings (requirements, design, and validation/verification).
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Understands methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Prepares Quality Assurance Plans; Performs product test witness/monitoring in laboratory environment.
  • Provides support and participates in New Contract Proposals/Reviews (RFP/RFQ); Provides support for Statistical and Status Reporting and DQA Metrics
  • Provides support with Hardware & Software Conformity and First Article Inspections (Hardware & Software), as well as audits by external entities; Performs Internal Audits
  • Performs hands-on Software SOI (Stages of Involvement) audits; Assist in new staff orientation and training.
  • Knowledge of Root Cause analysis investigations and can implement Corrective Actions
  • Participates in Process and/or Quality Improvement Projects
  • Travel to support customer or supplier related business trips, as needed.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering or other related Engineering discipline, or a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience using multiple quality improvement methodologies, tools, and techniques to drive significant change and improvement. At least a minimum of ten (10) years of experience with design and development of Software and Electronic developments in AS9100 / ISO 9001 environments and with Quality Management Systems standards

Salary Range:

$93,500.00 - $156,200.00
