Who You'll Work With

You will be based in our Johannesburg office, as a member of our global MaintenanceAI team.

MaintenanceAI is part of our Power Solutions domain, and is focused on the heavy industry sectors with a track record of successfully delivering technology enabled consulting services. The team works with tech partners to deliver solutions to our clients. MaintenanceAI combines the most advanced digital tools along the entire energy value chain, including lean maintenance, digital workflow management and predictive maintenance. We enable the deployment and development of a portfolio of McKinsey proprietary solutions required to successfully tackle and solve the complex challenges of the heavy industries.

Our clients cover the entire energy value chain, including energy companies, industry clients, investors and public sector clients. Working hand-in-hand with our Global Energy & Materials consulting practice and with access to the expertise of the wider McKinsey network, our research and analysis yield knowledge available nowhere else.

What You'll Do

You will shape the fourth industrial revolution for our clients through our proprietary models and leveraging of unique components built on top of existing market simulation solutions.

In this role, you will focus on several geographies and work closely with experts from our Oil & Gas, Electric Power, Chemicals, Basic Materials, and Transport Travel and Logistics & Resource Productivity practices. This will involve coordinating macroeconomic, technological and policy trends with McKinsey’s insights on an industry level and overall energy system development.

You will engage with clients as part of a cross-functional team on studies to deploy our models, customize them to client settings and derive the relevant strategic insights relevant to set the course of their strategy, their data & IoT strategy, maintenance practices, and reliability strategy. You will develop the traditional McKinsey toolkit to gain breadth and depth on the potential options that our clients have to resolve their most complex challenges. You will actively contribute to internal and external outreach efforts to grow brand awareness and support our client development efforts. You will also identify new opportunities for McKinsey to develop new digital products to better serve our clients.

You will play an active role in the delivery of our solution to power utility clients, and will help build a new entrepreneurial, knowledge-based business, as MaintenanceAI is an extension of McKinsey's service and is expected to grow substantially within the next five years. You will work with colleagues and clients to build the future of the heavy industry sector together.
