Who You'll Work With

You will work in the McKinsey Brussels office Client Capabilities Hub. 

Established in 2000, this hub offers a combination of industry expertise and innovative capabilities to help companies around the globe solve their most challenging problems. It provides assets, expertise, research and solutions across many domains. Our Brussels hub is culturally diverse and multilingual, with more than 30 nationalities and 23 languages represented amongst our colleagues. The hub hosts more than 60 professionals in a variety of roles including consultants, data scientists, engineers and researchers in order to drive lasting impact throughout the region.

You will join the Panorama Financial Institutions Center (PFIC) as a Capabilities and Insights analyst. PFIC is one of the largest knowledge and analytics teams globally and part of the FIG practice, with ~200 members and a global footprint across 20+ countries, focusing on financial services across multiple sub-sectors (insurance, retail banking, corporate and investment banking, wealth & asset management, payments and fintech) and across a range of functional domains (digital, risk, strategy & corporate finance, marketing & sales).

What You'll Do

You will work on insurance topics and some banking topics, focusing on the Belgian, Dutch, Luxembourgish and French market.

In this role, you will collect and analyze information to support our client teams. Your primary responsibilities will include (1) collecting, analyzing and synthesizing information that serve as critical inputs to teams of consultants, (2) developing and delivering expertise on specific financial institutions industry topics, and (3) directly serving clients by joining teams of consultants on site or remotely. You will work directly with clients, consultants and fellow researchers on analyses that require in-depth research, data modeling and client-ready presentation material. 

You will get an opportunity to build a solid understanding of industry trends while developing specific expertise in one or several areas. You will help shape knowledge initiatives and contribute substantially to the development of new knowledge, capabilities, service lines and dissemination (reach and relevance) within area of expertise.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in applied economics or applied sciences, business management, civil engineer or a related field with history of strong (distinctive) academic performance
  • 1+ years of experience is a strong asset
  • Proven interest and/or emerging experience in the insurance sector
  • Interest and/or some experience in the financial industry is a plus, as well as understanding of financial and business concepts
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and quantitative skills 
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Strong sense of entrepreneurship and personal drive; enjoys the challenges and rewards of research work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Intellectual/intrinsic curiosity for the content
  • Professional attitude and service orientation
  • Strong communication skills (written/oral) and sense of synthesis
  • Native fluency in Dutch and fluency in English are mandatory; good knowledge of French is an asset
