Job Description and Duties

Telework Information: This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

The Enterprise Solutions Development Division (ESDD) provides the infrastructure and application services for most of the business functions within CalPERS and its eight Regional Offices. The Information technology Specialist I (ITS I) will work under the MyCalPERS Services Section (MCPSS), which provides a variety of critical technical support services to the CalPERS Business Divisions and their customers germane to the CalPERS business lines of work and will significantly utilize the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices to maintain and enhance the MCP system.

Under direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the ITS I will be responsible for providing a variety critical technical business analysis and business process reengineering support services to CalPERS business divisions which includes:

  • Scheduling JAR/JAD sessions. 
  • Facilitate and/or participate in meetings with other support teams in ITSB or business areas to discuss solutions for raised issues and requested enhancements. 
  • Inform and/or participate in code reviews and walk-throughs with team members 
  • Analyze, design, test, and document solutions based on the requirements and artifacts updated by business analysts 
  • Maintain and update all relevant MCP release documents within the defect tracking system 
  • Support critical business solutions 
  • Analyze and triage production issues to determine root cause 
  • Perform system testing by creating test plans and executing test scripts

The ITS I will work closely with the various IT groups including solutions architects, business analysts, developers, testers, database administrators, data modelers, build coordinators, and the regression automation team while supporting MCP planned production releases. The ITS I will work both independently and cooperatively with others, to carry out assignments using considerable judgment to achieve objectives while following established time frames and performance standards.

Statement of Qualifications
