Essential Job Functions

  • Correspond and collaborate extensively to provide technical support to licensee companies by email, by phone, and in person during product planning, design, development, manufacture, and sales. Escalate cases and customer issues to other departments as needed.
  • Technical support for customers to adopt Dolby technology – designing, integration, testing, verification, audio tuning, debugging technical issues on their mobile products. Fine tuning audio quality on different mobile products to meet both Dolby and customer’s requirement.
  • Work with cross-functional teams across Dolby as the “voice of the customer” providing feedback on and driving improvements to Dolby’s licensing deliverables. Leverage customer meetings to gather intelligence about customers’ product plan, product requirements and share with relevant Dolby teams.
  • Support pre-sales activity delivering technical presentations, demonstration of new products, promoting the value proposition of Dolby technologies to customers.
  • Occasional international travel is required.

Education, Skills, Abilities, and Experience Required

  • BSEE or MSEE or similar (Physics, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.) and up to 10 years’ experience in consumer audio/video or related fields. We are interested in people who are interested in us, so do not worry too much about years of experience. If you like this job description, send us a resume.
  • Useful experience includes expertise / knowledge / familiarity with any (not all) of the following areas:
  • Audio/video hardware/software design
  • Porting audio codec (HEAAC, MP3, AC3, etc) into different OS, integrating 3rd party audio solutions, testing and debugging, audio tuning; developing audio codecs or pre/post processing into embedded systems
  • Multimedia system in encoding and decoding, muxing and demuxing, various container formats (MKV, MP4, TS, etc)
  • Audio/video HW driver/BSP development
  • Deep debugging skills on mobile platform: ADB, JTAG, gdb, systrace, ftrace, perf
  • Developing multimedia system on Android with Audioflinger, OMX Codec, Android APIs
  • Android build system, and development with Git, Gerrit
  • Acoustics, sound system and signal processing knowledge
  • Audio/video test and measurement
  • Perceptual coders
  • Multimedia interfaces such as HDMI, Firewire, DLNA, etc.
  • Mobile products and applications
  • Audio on Bluetooth or WiFi
  • Some level of programming language skills (C/C++, Java/Android, Python) is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Korean and English. (“Communication” is more important than perfection.)
  • Ability to quickly understand complex technical and/or business issues and explain them to technical and non-technical personnel without using big words or complicated grammar.
  • Experience on direct customer support or pre-sales support activity.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Dolby’s ecosystem, products, business and its customers.
  • Knowledge of music, audio/video production, recording engineering, broadcast engineering, film audio, home theater, or acoustics is desirable.
  • Experience in Jira and Salesforce.
