Position Overview

Position Summary

The First-Year Experience/Learning Communities program is seeking qualified candidates to teach as part-time resource faculty. Availability will depend on the needs of the university each semester; therefore, you may not be contacted immediately. Credentials will remain on file for 1 year from the date you submit an application. At that time, current applicants will be asked to re-apply.

Adjunct faculty positions are contracted part-time temporary assignments that are based on the needs of the University.

Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements: 

Master’s degree required. Instructors must have a working knowledge of the local community, ENMU campus, and the typical challenges of a new college student. Must be able to teach on campus in Portales, NM. Salary based on degree and experience, paid on credit hour basis. College level teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Teach the assigned course(s) in either a face-to-face, online, or hybrid environment.
  • Manage and maintain all required elements of Learning Management System (LMS) for assigned course(s), to include but not limited to creating and uploading syllabus and all required course content and update grades regularly in the LMS throughout the term.
  • Enter grades and attendance into BANNER.
  • Complete Academic Alert notifications, for timely reporting of pertinent student interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions: 

Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Insurance

Insurance for Eastern New Mexico University is offered through the New Mexico Public Schools Insurance Authority. High coverage and low coverage options are offered for medical and dental insurance so employees can choose the plan that’s right for them.

  • Health insurance is offered through both Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico and the Presbyterian Health Plan
  • Dental insurance is offered through United Concordia.
  • Vision insurance is offered through Davis Vision.
  • Life insurance is offered through Standard Life Insurance Company and UNUM Life Insurance Company.

Retirement

Eastern New Mexico University participates with the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board (NMERB), Social Security, and Medicare.

The University also offers supplemental retirement plans. 403b plans are available through TIAA/CREF, AIG VALIC, and MetLife. 457b plans are offered through TIAA/CREF. 

Paid Time Off

Medical leave is accrued at a rate of 12 working days per year up to a maximum of 130 working days.

Employee Educational Assistance Plan Eastern New Mexico University offers a tuition waiver for regular employees and retirees. This program waives the tuition for one course (up to four credit hours) per semester. Employees' spouses may be eligible to use the tuition waiver during any semester that it is not being used by the employee.
