The Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine, set to open in Pasadena, California in 2019, offers more than a conventional medical education. This position will directly support the Planning Dean and Assistant Dean and will be part of the Core Design and Implementation Team for the KP School of Medicine.  

Essential Functions: • Directs teams of consultants, project manager & administrative staff to lead large projects or oversees multiple projects.  • Develops proposals outlining proposed project structure, approach & work plan. • Designs research plans for data gathering & analysis. Interprets analysis & develops action plans accordingly. Provides direction to content experts of the responsible area. Provides leadership & expert consultation on the design, development, & implementation of programs to execute best practices in a given functional area. • Supports the planning, management & execution of key business processes associated w/ management of the applicable functional area, including but not limited to performance management, strategic planning, communications, & operations. Applies process improvement methods & tools to improve &/or redesign organizational business processes, tactical initiatives & technical systems. • Executes tools & systems, including project plans, scorecards, risk assessments & resource allocation tracking systems to measure the efficiency & effectiveness of the functional area in achieving organizational goals & objectives. • Makes decisions on resource allocation to best execute the Leaders' strategic vision & makes recommendations on reallocation & shifting of strategic direction in order to realign the functional area w/ best practices in a particular area &/or the larger strategic direction of the organization. • In partnership w/ Human Resources, IT &/or 3rd Party Vendors, develops & maintains the functional people plan to ensure that the organization is prepared to effectively execute the functional strategies. Makes recommendations regarding staffing & selection, compensation & other employment matters. Authorizes & approves on behalf of the Leaders, w/in pre-established parameters, the necessary paperwork to carry out the Human Resources administrative actions associated w/ day-to-day management activities of the group. Leads the salary planning, performance management & goal setting process for the functional area at the direction of leadership in consultation w/ other business units. • This job description is not all encompassing.

Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications:

Experience • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in consulting, operations or project management in a health care setting.

Education • Bachelor's degree in related field, four (4) years of experience in a directly related field. • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration • N/A  

Additional Requirements: • Experience with business process improvement and the tools and data requirements for supporting an effective business process improvement project. • Demonstrated performance in strategic/operational analysis and planning, analytical techniques, financial and market assessments. • Proven leadership skills in project management and consulting. • Demonstrated ability to structure, drive and execute complex multi-disciplinary issues to closure with minimal direction. • Proven ability to effectively manage in ambiguous situations with minimal direction. • Proficient in team building, conflict resolution, group interaction, project management, and budget management. • Demonstrated ability to lead professionals and manage others through influence and collaboration. • Outstanding written and oral communication skills required. • Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis. • Advanced knowledge (broad expertise or unique knowledge) of policies, practices and systems. • Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards. • Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories. • Viewed as expert in field within KP. • Applies advanced principles, theories, and concepts. • Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas. • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications: • Minimum three (3) years of management experience preferred. • Minimum eight (8) years of related experience preferred.

This is an 18 month Durational Position supporting the KP School of Medicine.
