By expanding into new technology and relentlessly improving every day, we’re creating a better tomorrow for all Australians. As a Senior Data Scientist within our Group Credit Risk (GCR) function, you will develop and deploy capabilities that align to the business outcomes of higher sales, lower losses and increase automation and efficiency of the existing business model.

The foundation of your expertise will be your ability to directly affect business results and meet GCR KPI’s by applying your analytical and technical skills in innovative ways. You will use your understanding of business objectives and knowledge of the Credit portfolio to identify risks and opportunities – applying your technical expertise to extract, analyse and present the data required to support your recommendations!

Working with stakeholders across the Optus group, you will take a lead role in developing and delivering real time decisioning models that improve business outcomes across Fraud, Credit Risk and collections.

A background in a Credit, Fraud or Collections environment is highly desirable and you will have proven experience with analytical problem solving.

Your key ingredients for success ...

• Significant experience in a Senior Data Science role to date applying complex machine learning algorithms to solve business problems;
• Experience with IT systems and decisioning platforms;
• Credit management/Fraud risk management experience including risk scorecard modelling;
• Experience in device intelligence fraud tools and customer ID authentication processes;
• Advanced data analysis skills and knowledge of SQL programming, with experience in developing machine learning models across different topics such as predictive, pattern recognition, NLP and segmentation using large volumes of data through different machine learning algorithms;
• Experience implementing machine learning algorithms such as decision trees, gradient boosting models, logistic regression, neural networks, etc; &
• Proficient in the use Data-mining software and programming languages (SAS, R, Python), plus experience with Tableau, plus advanced MS Office.
