About the role

Collaborating with the Manager, Satellite Programs, Strategy and Capacity Planning, you will provide broad ranging technical and administrative support to program and project teams running the planning and deployment of new satellites and other high-value, space-based assets, and associated program specific ground segment infrastructure.

Working under the direction of nominated project managers and other technical specialists, you will support the management of satellite manufacturers and segment vendors, launch and other space segment service providers and important insurance and regulatory arrangements, as well as support for the daily administration of ongoing activities and the control of budgets, schedules, and risk.

It is anticipated that the incumbent will develop the capability to actively participate with each PMO in the analysis of sophisticated systems and the critical review of data and information and to contribute to risk identification and problem solving!

You will nominally be based at the Optus Centre in Macquarie Park however will be required to work from the Optus Satellite Facility in Belrose on an as needed basis to meet business requirements. Out of hours support for meetings with vendors and customers will be necessary on a semi-regular basis and interstate and overseas travel may be required for business purposes.

Your key ingredients for success ...

  • Minimum Diploma of Engineering, Communications, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Australian citizenship and ability to acquire and maintain Australian Defence Security Clearance.
  • Proven work experience to date in the engineering industry, with ability to move easily between practical and analytic domains.
  • Knowledge of RF communication principles and able to exercise a high level of analytical thinking.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and scripting. 
  • An understanding of fundamental project management principles and techniques with basic knowledge of spacecraft subsystem functionality and concepts (advantageous). 
  • Highly developed social skills with all levels of people.
