About the role

As a Business Development Manager (BDM) within the Optus Enterprise and Government team, your role will be to grow enterprise and corporate customers business and market share in Brisbane, through the business development and acquisition of new customer sales opportunities. You’ll be responsible for a whitespace territory and be a sales hunter by nature.

Optus offers a wide portfolio of solutions and services founded on the voice, mobile and data networks, and supplemented by a strong ICT value proposition encompassing Security, Cloud, Digital and Networking. The role will require new customer engagements directly into corporate and enterprise accounts together with various specialist resources and technology partners.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifying sales prospect throughout the assigned territory and uncover sufficient pipeline to meet/exceed targets.
  • Drive and lead new customer acquisition by being current in your understanding of Optus products and services, additionally trends and developments within the telecommunications industry.
  • Build a pipeline of new acquisition opportunities and work consultatively with our sales specialists and pre-sales specialists to source, qualify and close new leads.
  • Provide strategic sales planning to tailor a sales approach to the territory by facilitating sales briefings and proposing appropriate solutions.
  • Build relationships for effective business development by leveraging across teams/resources.
  • Generate proposals and responding to tenders.

About you

You’ll bring to this role high level client relationship skills and demonstrated experience as a strong sales hunter with the ability to create and execute strategy. Your high attention to detail and ability to identify market trends and problem solving for solution development will be pivotal. Additionally, you will also bring to the role:

  • Previous experience as a BDM and/or similar role within the IT/Telecommunications industry.
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT, Engineering and/or Business.
  • Understanding of sales methodologies.
  • Experience in territory planning and execution.
  • Ability to understand and articulate the latest ICT and Telecommunications offerings.
  • Stellar presentation and negotiation skills
